Help! Brakes

I have a 2007.5 6.7 2500 quad cab lwb. i have a full replacement ranchhand on the front and a cm sk model flatbed on the rear. the truck is HEAVY. It also has 315-70-17 bfg all terrains on it. Compaired to any other truck i drive even the same kind of truck with the same tire size my brakes SUCK. it feels like as if the pads are glazed over but they are not. i installed new rotors and the most high dollar pads that oreily auto parts sells and they still suck. What could it be??? the brake pedal is nice and firm the way it should be...

I would perform these tests to make sure your brake booster is working properly.

BOOSTER FUNCTION TEST
With the engine off depress the brake pedal several times to discharge the accumulator. Then depress the brake pedal using 40 lbs. of force and start the engine. The brake pedal should fall and then push back against your foot. This indicates the booster is operating properly.

ACCUMULATOR LEAKDOWN
1. Start the engine, apply the brakes and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock. This will ensure the accumulator is charged. Turn off the engine and let the vehicle sit for one hour. After one hour there should be at least two power assisted brake application with the engine off. If the system does not retain a charge the booster must be replaced.
2. With the engine off depress the brake pedal several times to discharge the accumulator. Grasp the accumulator and see if it wobbles or turns. If it does the accumulator has lost a gas charge and the booster must be replaced

Could also be the power steering pump. Is the steering wheel hard to turn when not moving engine running with foot off the brake? Apply your parking brake for this test.

Mine had the problem of wandering all over the lane during moderate to heavy braking. Firm pedal, good pads and rotors. Hooked up my new vacuum bleeder and sucked out what looked like coffee. Three quarts of brake fluid later, problem solved. Doesn't look like that was on the POs maintenance list. I plan on doing another flush in the spring to get what ever crap washes loose between now and then.
