Great News.. My truck is being brought back

As the the title says, got the call this morning that I have been waiting to here, Ford is buying my 06 F350 6.0L, CC, 4x4, LB back. After it is all said and done I will have a nice chunk of change to put down on my new truck.

I have made up my mind that I will not be getting a Ford again. I have decided to get a Dodge.

I currently tow a 10K travel trailer, which I was going to upgrade to a 5th wheel Toy Hauler this past year, but with all of the problems I have had with my Ford I put it off, I will most likely wait another year before we buy it. My Ford would of carried the pin weight fine but the Dodge 3500 SRW will not, so I will be looking to get a DRW. This will also be my daily driver 84 miles round trip, this truck will see a lot of HWY miles.

I have test drove both the New 6.7L with the 6 speed auto and the 5.9L with the 4 speed auto. Both were nice and I could easily own any of them and be Happy. I really liked the 6 speed tranny and EB that comes with the 6.7L, but all of the NEW emissions stuff really scares me. The 5.9L is proven and NO emissions Crap.

BUT... I just can not decide...

I have ~ Two weeks until all the paper work is done and I have to turn in my current truck, so I have some time, but BOY is it tough... trying to decide.

Please help me fall to one side of the fence.

Please feel free to post any comments

the 6.7 is the future of DC right now and it seems like most of the bugs are being worked out. i love my 5.9, but i think the 6.7 will be a great motor very soon

Still own a 2002 5.9. Just bought a 2007 with 6.7 and i love it. Have had no problems and it has plenty of power. Fuel milage not so good yet, but expect it to get better. My 5.9 started out bad but is getting very good fuel milage now. The 6.7 is very quiet and smooth. The 5.9 is proven and dependable. I trust Cummins and feel the 6.7 is the way to go. It is a good engine. In time it will prove itself. My $.02

You buy the one YOU want, not what everyone else say's.

What do you feel most comfortable getting the 6.7 with the 6 speed auto and EB, or the 5.9 4 speed auto? When you answer that there is the truck YOU want not the one we want.

If you are going to keep it stock and use it for towing, then the 6.7L w/the 6 speed auto will be awesome.

It you want to bomb it, then the 5.9L w/the 4 speed auto is the ticket. There will be mods for the 6.7L soon enough, but I think it will be trickier to keep all the emissions systems running correctly.

YES I do now that, but I just can not decide, just would like to hear different thoughts and views that maybe I am not thinking of. I want this truck to last me well past the warranty and payments.

I do not need to bomb it, if it pulls the trailer than it is fine for me. I did have the Edge Juice Platnium with attitude monitor on my Ford (advised by my dealer), but that was cause the truck had trouble pulling my trailer at HWY speeds (70MPH) pulling the trailer. Truck had 20" wheels on it with 3.73 rear (reduced to 3.62 cause of the size of the wheels) and was only pulling 1750 RPMs at that speed and was not happy, it would keep down shifting, 6.0L is happier at 2K + RPMs.

Poll is even.... Thanks for the thoughts so far..

So far IM leaning too the SLT Sport trim with leather, I like the interior better than the Laramie, Do not like the fake Plastic wood.

I have a new 6.7, 6spd auto, 410 gears, SLT QC, short bed, 3500. I tow a Bri-MAr equip trailer that weighs 3100 and change, and load it with a Kubota L48 TLB that breaks just over 8200 lbs. All previous trucks were Dodge Cummins, 2500 models,, This 6.7 is awesome. I believe the only reason some have minor issues falls on the selling dealer,, IF they prep it right, check for the latest upgrades and do these before releasing the truck, then you will be alright. I wouldn't trade this for an 07 anything else,, About 2200 miles on it now, flawless,, I've towed three times, through short, but very steep hilly area. Clock in truck is pretty consistent at 17.5 MPG. Towing in these short hills dropped it to 11-12. Half the miles are highway and the other half is short stop and go traffic. Only thing I have for the dealer to look at is right mirror. I think they will replace the motor in it,, It works and moves, sometimes, Can't get it set where I really want it,, mirror is very jerky, when trying to adjust.

Had my 6.7 for 3 months now and got 7000 miles on. I've had no problems except for the check engine light which now seems to be fixed since it's been re-flashed. The 6 speed and EB convinced me to chose the 6.7
I've towed an 11m lb. trailer several hundred miles and it pulls smoothly and quietly . MPG not as good as my old 5.9 but it is improving as it gets more miles on it.
Good luck with your decision.

I've got both(in the family), recently the lift pump died on my 04' and my old man came with the 6.7 and his trailer. The 6.7 pulls HARD for a stock truck. My 04 with no tst is very limp compared to the 6.7, but a smarty will more than compensate. If I had to replace the 04', i'd definatley get a 6.7/g56 truck.

The new 6spd auto works great if you like auto's.

I totally agree on if the dealer preps them right, checks TSB's, and DOES the updates their would be fewer issues with the emissions on the 6.7

I have a 6.7 and really do like the truck. Before this truck I had three powerstrokes and drivetrain wise this truck to me is far more superior....

Hope this helps...
