funny noises

Shortly after I start my 2008, 3500 dodge truck, I occasionally hear a metallic "ching". It may be a spring or who knows what that kicks in. The questions are-- what is it? Is it a problem? Should I talk to a dealer?

I haven't noticed any problems and it isn't all of the time. Any suggestions?

I hear stuff all the time when I start mine up. Mostly when it's been cold in the morning. I figure if I don't have any codes popping up, it's all good.

There is a spring on the EGR bracket. How I know this is that the tech BROKE it while doing the EGR service. He and I both agreed that we couldn't figure out what it was for, since it went from one bracket to another with NO moving parts on either end. I figure the engineers know more about these things than we do, so I asked him to replace it. Of course it's on back order. It's riveted to both brackets on either end. Could be what you're hearing as you said it "sounds" like a spring???
