Fuel Filter Conversion
 

So ... has anyone done a conversion fron the all in one junk we have to the 2010 style ?

I have, well worth it!

Have any info on the swap or is it pretty strait forward. I noticed the 2010 looks like a drop in canister style. Bout how much did it run ya and where did you get the parts.

After that, then its only $37 for the replacement filter.

Are they plug and play?

Thx ... tx ... but that is kinda the same but not exactly ... that is more liek the 5.9L one ... and Dodge already tried to "superceed" me to that one ... I looked at a 2010 one an noticed that not only is it like that, but it is bigger ... kinda like a can of bud vs. Fosters ... it just looked much larger. Was curious if it would gain anything actually going with the 2010 specific one.

I did a few days ago and I really like it. I like the 1/2" square hole at the bottom that allows you to use a socket wrench instead or a strap for removal & installation. I found there is no need to do anything from the top of the engine compartment in order to remove or install it. I simply feed the filter in through the wheel well (no need to remove liner), hand tighten and then finish up with the socket wrench from the bottom. I'm keeping one older style filter as a spare just in case I accidentally break the housing on the new filter.

we arent asking about the upgraded filter. WE WANT INFO ON THE NEEWWW FILTER HOUSING THE 2010 USES a drop in like the 5.9 used.....

The new 2010 canister is not available as a service part yet. I've been trying to get one for weeks. Inlet and outlet fitting are molded in now. Return line location appears to have changed also. This is not going to be an easy/cheap swap if it can be done at all.

The wiring harness will also be in the way for getting the filter out of the canister from the top.

I can't see how the '10 filter would be any easier to deal with than the existing upgraded filter for the '07 to '09 6.7.

I was at the dealer today and they told me there was a new housing and filter that needed done, and if I didn't do it they might not cover any injector problems in the future. Is this what you guys are talking about? They want $125 to swap it out.

The 2010 filter is a whole new animal. The updated filter your dealer is talking about is just an upgraded filter element and shell assy. PM me if you need more info.

Just picked up new filter unit from dealer, just under $70.00, parts store wanted almost $90 and they had to order it.

Changed out the filter today, no need to remove wheel or inner fender, tight but it will fit thought the opening.

I did however get fuel spillage , the drain didn't work very good.
