Which Fuel Filter for 2009 3500

I just bought a 2009 3500 DRW, and need to change the filters. It seems there are 2 fuel filter choices. 1 looks like a canister type filter that you drop in an existing filter body. The other looks like a whole filter body. How do I know which one I will need. Thank you for the info, and I did try to search it first. Nelson

OK so thanks to You Tube I think I see the difference, but still don't know how often the whole housing will need to be replaced.

The whole housing should not need to be replaced. Just the guts/filter inside the housing. Originally, the filter/housing were one unit and had to replace them both, but the newer style is just replace the inside filter and the housing remains.
