First Post, Crazy Story.

Long story. I will abbreviate, and be as brief as possible.
Bought 07, 6.7, 4x4, auto, quad cab in 4/07, no miles. At 2200 mi. truck limping on highway. Towed to dealer. P2262. We all know what that is. Service writer did not what DPF stood for! Kept truck 2 days, called me and said "truck ready, cleared code, we did not do any repairs, truck running perfect now". Amazing statements. Been back to service 10 times with 3 different codes. Kept truck 5 times. Two new turbo chargers! Other new parts, other parts cleaned out. Rental cars, calls to Dodge 800 numbers, spoke to Corp. office twice, treated poorly at best. One service writer said these trucks were not meant to be commuter vehicles, meaning I was not utilizing it properly. I do work it and drive it hard, with engine brake on 90 percent of the time. 11 to 16 MPG.
At 26000 mi. P2262 and P2000 again! For the umpteenth time. Go to dealer, they say "they tell us not to replace turbos anymore, we now have a cleaning process". This requires them to drill a hole in my turbo, tap and plug it, and use it to insert cleaning fluid that will clean out the turbo and the DPF. Talk about jack leg, backyard repairs! This done 2 days ago. I go back to check on my truck while I was driving the 87 Dodge 4x4 I bought to back up the 40000.00 truck, and towing my trailer. A man walks up to me and asks me what I am doing next Friday. He proceeds to tell me that he may be able to help me with my problem. He is a regional director of some kind. He wants to meet with me and discuss what I might want! Do you believe this? I tell him I will start with a new 6.7, 0 miles, at no more cost to me, and they can detail mine and re-sell it. He said well lets get together and discuss this and there is no need to get a lawyer yet! He approached me as I was leaving the lot when he said all this and I was not the one that brought up a lawyer, he was! I will meet with him next Friday.
Comments anyone? Crazy huh? There are more details but tried to keep it short.

From you description it sounds like a few trucks I work on that are not getting "used" and soot up. Replacing a turbo for that code is stupid. Clean it and move on.

I spoke to the shop foreman at my local Dodge dealer last week about this while checking on the warranty status of my 06. He said the drill a hole process and flush it was working well. He suggested that the problem was caused by the Dodge trucks not regenerating at idle like the Ford trucks do, so trucks that don't see enough highway miles were clogging up. He suggested that Dodge was going to fix it by reprogramming the regen cycle.

Hopefully they just give you a new ride at no cost. In AZ it certainly sounds like they would be buying your truck back for a lemon law claim.

J Body, The problem needs fixed, not just cleaned out. The first turbo had soot in it 1/2" thick, the tech showed it to me. Fix the cause, not the results of the problem!

The only way to get rid of the soot problem is to get the EPA/tree hugger's to allow the removal of the EGR valve on all diesel engines.

The cause of the soot buildup is from not driving it way it was meant to be driven....hauling, towing or an good WOT run here and there.

That's what J-Body was trying to say.......

You can swap turbo's but it the lack of air moving, that will screw up that one too.

My 07 was in the shop numerous times for soot build up. It is not a commuter. I pull 20-30k down the highway everyday. Dodge just bought that pos back. Word to the wise, they want you to pay 40 cents/mi.. Just mention an attorney and that price goes down to 10 cents real quick.

KS, I meet with Dodge for the first time this Friday. I have already talked to a lawyer who has done lemon laws, and he has given me some good advice for this first meeting. He said there seems to be more than enough problems, and them approaching me also may prove that to be true. He also said if the time is right, and I need leverage in the conversation, to remind them the odds are very good that they will be liable for my court costs and my legal fees. I just need a reliable truck and this one is not it.

So all those UPS trucks that have the 6.7 need to be hooked up to a 16000# trailer??

This is DODGE'S garbage and we are paying for it!! The EGR is an EVIL EVIL thing

I met with Dodge today. They will buy back my truck. We simply sat down at the table, and he said "we would like to buy your truck back from you". Many details after that, but I must say they have begun this process respectfully and seem to be doing the right thing at the right time without animosity.
He asked me what I wanted and I said the same truck but a 5.9. If he can not find one I said a new 08 6.7. He said he will call in 5 to 7 days, to meet again. I will update when I get more.
What would you have asked for?

There might still be some new 5.9's out there.

Hmm, I'd be satisfied with an '09 2500 CTD 68RE Power Wagon Mega LB in Dove Gray Leather and Gunmetal Silver... don't forget a tankful of #2!
