Engine oil temp monitoring?

I am getting prepared to install my gauges, and looking for some help. I have an oil psi, which will tap into the oil filter housing. Fuel psi, will be installed post filter at the filter housing, with the help of a modified banjo bolt. My first dual gauge, is EGT ( pre-turbo)/ boost pressure. My second gauge is dual temp. I will be taping into the trans hot line for the first temp. Now comes the decision. Do I put a T at the oil filter, and monitor oil temp, tap the intake and monitor coolant temp, transfer case, or rear end?

Oil temp is on my list of want's, but so is rear diff/trans, etc. If your going to be towing heavy I say go with diff temp, as oil temp should follow coolant temp plus a bit.

Right now, I don't do a lot of towing, at least anything the truck would consider 'towing'. A fifth wheel is in the plans, once we sell the house. How would you go about taping the rear dif, or is there a drain plug on the dif?

I heard oil temp is a pretty boring gauge to watch and some who had it removed it because it was so predictable. Mostly 5 to 10 degrees cooler than antifreeze.

Most aftermarket covers have a 1/8" NPT port. If you were to use the stock cover I would pull it and tap it if its thick enough, but you may have to have a bung welded on it.
