Engine disablers

For us poor ST owners that didn't get any security system, carpet, doors etc., what can we do? I remember reading that if I wanted cruise, I just needed the pods and the system flashed to make it work. Is there a similar route for the security system? I'm not after remote control just a passive (automatic) disabler. Failing that, is there an aftermarket system that plays nice with these trucks? I have a 2007 chassis-cab with 6.7 standard shift. Thanks!

I have the Ravelco system installed on both our trucks and to me it is one of the best out there for the price.

Thanks for the tip. I'm hoping to get the on board system working so I won't need a second 'key' every time I wanted to start it. I'm figuring that they could reflash it and sell me a couple of those expensive chip keys and it would be like factory. Anyone done it?

What exactly do these things disable, and what is the workmanship like? Do they just throw this in with cheap crimp connections, or is the harness kept weather-tight where they interrupt whatever it is they interrupt?

no cheap connectors when I install them. non insulated with heat shrink. takes a couple hours to do it right (or more). interrupt more than 1 system, rig WILL not run, start, crank without the plug installed.

Was about a 2-3 hour install. Used wire loom and made everything look very good during install. Happy to have the extra level of protection.

As cbrahs said, with this sytem installed about the only way it could be stolen is with a flatbed or tow truck. If they cut the harnass or the plug is not installed the truck will not start.

I don't consider us "Poor ST Owners". There is a lot to be said for manual windows, locks and rubber floors ... K.I.S.S.

Anyway here is a great disabler of your worried about it being stolen.
1. open hood
2. open fuse center
3. pull ignition fuse and keep it in your pocket.

A proud ST owner, and I thought I was the only one! Did you special order yours too as the re seems to very little profit building these and they don't want to stock them. I would have gone for power locks as a quad cab and a family means doing a tour de interior every time we get in but I can fix that by retro fitting that in.
If I get, or enable, an automatic security system then my insurance company will give me money off every year. Any system relying on me to 'turn it on' they won't. I really don't want a second key either as there are ones, such as the factory system, that works independently.

I wish I had the power locks on my ST quad... I'm looking to get some installed...

I bought and put the cruise control switches on the steering wheel and the cruise works fine except it doesn't switch off when I put the clutch in. I have to hit the brake and then push the clutch...

Rolling the windows up is no big deal but the thing I hate the most is not having power with my tow mirrors. But all in all, paying $19.5 for a brand new truck was well worth the extra effort!

Cheers,
Ron

not to start something here but when they stalk you and watch your moves (like they do here) watching you open the hood and pull a relay/fuse only gives them the knowledge of what you are doing. that is the first relay/fuse everyone pulls!

Yes, I had to special order mine with the 6-speed manual.

If the insurance company will reduce your premium by a few hundred bucks if you spend a few hundred, then I guess its a wash.

Have it done professionally.

Not much to worry about up here in Hickville NH.

Most of the time the truck goes from my house to the gravel yard/wood site/etc... and back home. It ain't no grocery getter.

Boy I tell you my family is in Southern NH and the crime rates have been increasing. Used to never lock the doors, started doing that now. Pittsfield/Chichester area...
