cracked transmission case

Hello all, I'm new here. Gotta 2008 6.7 2500. Only mods I have is smarty jr with all deletes. 4 1/2" straight pipe. Here is the deal, so yesterday I was driving to a buddies and was on the highway cruising along @ 67mph. Truck started to vibrate bad. Thought I had a blowout pulled over, all tires looked good. noticed tranny fluid pouring out. Thought crap I need to get off the highay fast. So I put in drive and let it idle to the next exit. Crawled underneath it and see my transmission split all the way around. Right after the bell housing where it starts to taper down. Clean split like a mess up in the manufactured casing. Does anyone know what the warranty is on transmissions? I have 92,210miles. Also should I take my smarty off along with the exhaust and then take it to the dealer? Is my smarty jr traceable? How do I set it back to stock with the programmer like nothing was ever on there? Sorry for all th questions lol

So called the dealership and apparently in the year 2008 half of trucks have a 36k warranty for trannys and the other half have 100k. Man I get the short end of the stick literally!!

Did you ask them how they determined which is which? Or is it the ones that break all get to be in the half the is not covered and the ones that don't break are the ones covered??

I would not settle for an answer like that.

Have you ever heard of this happening? I called a couple dealers and they all tell me the same thing.

What do you mean my truck is on a restriction? I though smarty jr's aren't traceable?

Performance tq4 and timing 4. Also don't run my truck hard. I have switched settings multiple times I called goerend and the guy I talked to said my settings that I had it on should not of made the tranny crack. He asked if it has been slipping I said no. He said probably a manufacture defect.

Do you still have original u-joints? I'm thinking if you do, the u-joint went and the vibration fom the driveline caused the case to crack?

Changed u joints when I got the truck back in january. Does anyone know if a 2010 2500 auto 6speed fit in my truck like is it a exact match, wires, length and bolt holes? I found one here in texas for $2800 with 1900 miles on it.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Nothing is a exact match.
Case failure result from Ujoint. Probablly started before you replaced joint and took this long to completelly fail. You would have no indication of failure unless was under truck and saw hairline crack progressing.

I dont know about the u joint theory guys, ive been drag racing and road racing for years. Seen many u joint and drive shafts disintegrate. Never seen one split a trans case in half usually damages the rear first .

I have seen th400 cases split but only if there was over 1200 hp or some major mis alignment in the driveline w solid mounts. But thats cars maybe you guys have seen this in these trucks before.

Now that being said, i have seen the dodge truck U joints lock up to a point where the drive shaft will not pivot or flex at all( like a solid steel bar), this puts alot of stress on the case repeatedly as the shaft tries to go through its motion. That In my opinion could be the cause though still not as likely as mis alignment from accident or a defect from factory etc.

As an owner of an 08 id like to know about the trans warranty 36k vs 100k as well ive had valve body issues and my azz bag dealer wont gove me the tcm info on clutch pack thickness wonder if its because its still under warranty.
