Cel on every 3 days...CEL Off after 3 days ???

My CEL comes on about every three days or about 100 miles. It then disappears for about the same amount of time... It shows code 2262.

I plan on driving until it starts running rough.. Does anyone else experience this problem??

Dodgezilla 10-08-2008 02:49 PM

I did. That's why parts fell off my truck a few weeks ago. Now I have a constant CEL but I don't care.

That is the code telling you that your turbo is getting sooted up. It may eventually reach a point where it affects the way the truck runs. If you take it to the dealer they will either drill a hole in your trubo and spray a cleaner inside it or they will get you a new turbo.
I never went to the dealer with mine. I just drove the crap out of the truck to try and get any soot knocked out of the turbo that I could. This lasted about a month (3500 miles) before I had enough. The last straw for me was when the truck went into a mobile desoot where it burns off all the crud in the exhaust. The truck was running like tatal crap and doing all kinds of weird things until the desoot was done. The inside of the tailpipe was white afterwards, that's how hot it gets in desoot mode.....

Mine came on around 11,000 miles for a couple days and went off without returning. I took Zilla's advice and drove the crap out of it (BTW....I'll be sending you a copy of the ticket for reimbursement, Zilla [laugh]) and haven't had any other codes other than the one for the unplugged EGR. I bought a code scanner after unplugging the EGR so I could check codes regularly to see if the 2262 comes back up. So far so good.

Drive the crap out of it and see what happens.

Dodgezilla 10-09-2008 10:46 AM

Put it in Tow/Haul and turn the EB on. Lift your foot often as you drive to engage the EB. That will help clean it out.

My address to send the ticket is 1313 Mockingbird Lane and my name is Herman M. People just call me Frank though....

Azzy 10-09-2008 10:52 AM

Hmmmmm.....that address sounds familiar. I think you may be messing with me. [duhhh]

No tickets yet. But there's always time. [roll]

Dodgezilla 10-09-2008 10:56 AM

Sorry, I'm not one to mess with people. That is my address and the last name is Munster.

I was wondering when my CEL would come on, it finally came on the other day. I have 34k on the clock. The first code was- egr open to long, next time it was 2262- no boost. Each time it would go out after 100 miles or so.
The next time the CEL came on, I just dopped it off at the dealer. They cleaned the egr valve. So far so good. I burned about 80 gal. the next 2 days and no light.

^^ Same with mine. Cleaned the EGR at the dealer after the CEL and haven't had one since then. I don't drive it enough though..., only 2800 miles and had it since 8/30/07.

This thing should last forever at that rate.

i got the 2262 code took to a dealer about 3 hours away and they cleaned it and drilled it and when i got back in town it came on again so i took it to the dealer i got it from and they wrapped a strap around the sensors and cleaned it all again lasted awhile but came on again so im just straight pipin it next week

Dodgezilla 10-11-2008 07:36 AM

You'll need more than SP or you will see many more codes and your truck will not run right....

Black Betty 10-14-2008 10:39 PM

Mine was doing the same .CEL would come on with 2262 code. The dealer did the procedure of drilling the hole in the turbo/cleaning and putting the truck in regen for the evening. Picked up the truck the next day, almost got all the way home and CEL came back on with the same code. Took the truck back and they ended up replacing the turbo. I drive everywhere with the E Brake on and it helps. The cleaning solution the dealers use for the cleaning procedure for the turbo is a water-based solution that does nothing at all in my opinion. Hopefully this turbo will last.

I had 4 CEL's and decided to keep driving until they went pot. I then read the lemon procedure and one of the qualifications is: Three trips to the repair shop within the first year without solving the problem... I am now on my 2nd trip and feel sure I will have another visit before Dec. That's the end of my year...
I really like the truck and don't want to try the (lemon law) but I want to have the leverage to try for a lifetime warranty...

Dodgezilla 10-15-2008 10:44 AM

They don't offer that for diesels.
I was really irritated at getting my CELs too. Lemon law would be nice but then what would you drive. Personally I would not be happy with anything other than a CTD right now so that's why parts fell off my truck. The possibility of no engine warranty does not make me happy but I really like my truck too so I just had to do it. If it doesn't work out in the end then I will put all the parts back on and get rid of it.......
2000 miles and So far so good.......
