CE Light and Turbo!!

So my dad bought his truck in January of this year. He has right at 5,500 miles on the truck. No mods whatsoever

Well my Dad's 07 6.7L has been in the shop 5 times for a check engine light. Today he was told they were going to have to replace the turbo due to carbon build up. They also told him that from this point on they want him to drive the truck with the jake brake on (at all times). I dont know the exact code he was getting, but i will let ya'll know.

Has anyone had this trouble?

If you do a search on here, there have been lots of issues just like this one. I believe there is a TSB to drill and tap the turbo so it can be flushed and cleaned.

Same thing happened to me two weeks ago. I left the truck with the dealer
for a week (Ihad to be out of town). They drilled and cleaned the turbo and
I picked it up last Monday. Thursday the CEL came on again and cleared off
Friday. I drove it about 50 miles in 5th at about 75 mph. It ran fine. Today,
the service tech checked the code and said turbo again. He called Dodge,
and they told him to put another one on. I asked, "If it would be the same
part number or an upgrade." I was told, "It will be different." It will be put on Wed.
Frustration is about to set in.

First it's there, then it's not....

I first started getting the dreaded 2262 code a couple of months ago. I cleared it the first time and it stayed away for about 3 weeks. Then it came back, the cel stayed on for about a week or so, then went out. Naturally, the dealer says that in order to service it for the 2262, the code needs to be active, not just stored.

It's gotten to the point now where the cel will come on one evening and be gone the next, after maybe only 3 restarts. I'm starting to wonder if maybe the real problem is in the tolerance factor of the sensors involved. Could the newest ay flash have something to do with increasing these tolerances? It's been said that it reduces soot levels, but there must be more to it than that. Has anyone else out there experienced this.... cel on and then off again in the same day??

My engine light came on, took it to the dealer and they said the turbo needed cleaning. They said I had to wait for parts and they would call me. Its been a week and a half and no call yet. During that time the engine light has come on and gone off several times, but truck runs fine. Has anyone asked if using a fuel additive has any affect on this problem, either contributing to it or helping avoid it?
