Is this the ECM with the Build date ? Date shows 09/06/2008 It's located on the left side of the engine, 09 6.7 Don't want to buy a programer that won't work because of the build date. Thanks for the responce.

Look at the Nadar sticker on the door jamb. Get the date from there.

Troublesome thought

What happens if the ECM goes bad ? Are we screwed with the mods if a new ECM is required ? Have ECM go bad on a past truck, just wondering ?

Hmmmm good question. I myself would just roll up to the dealership and purchase a new one after demanding that they unlock it cause I am now my own warranty.

Not sure how that would work with other guys though. I imagine if one were to get a replacement from a salvage yard or other means Dodge could tell it's been replaced and then not warranty anything.

Sticky situation indeed.

Blake: Do I grasp this right? The ECM after 03/2009 date are locked by Dodge and thats why we have trouble with them ? They can be unlocked by Dodge ?

Yup, Dodge locks them. Have you seen the TSB on it?

Im not sure if they unlock them or not, but I do know that I would be hot under the collar if they refused to. Its my truck, and Ill mod it how I want, and pay for what I do.

They are locked on build dates after 3/2009, but H&S now has the XRT and Black Maxx that gets around that!

So in the tsb I assume they can unlock if the new update requires it to.because it may not start and run. Am i reading this right on 18-007-09 page 2.

The way I interpret that is if an authorized Dodge tech is working on the vehicle and the update to the ecm fails and produces this code then it can be reprogrammed with no warranty issues, ie, the issue was not the customers fault.

The ecm is still locked after this though.

If the ECM is locked than were screwed. The more I read the more I wish I found and 5.9 without all this EGR/DPF stuff. It's only going to get worse and I still plan on driving for for another 20+ years.
