Best way to disable truck?
Best way to disable truck?
Planning a snowmobile trip to QC in about 2 weeks from now. I'm concerned about the truck and snowmobile theft problem that seems to run rampid up there ( I have heard of numerous cases of this and actually know 3 people that it has happened to).
On my old truck I used to pull several key relays out of the main electrical box under the hood. On my 07 6.7 all I see are fuses and no relays like my old truck had.
Any one here know of any quick method's to disable these 6.7's? Seems as tho the factory alarm systems installed in the truck does not slow them down at all.
Thanks in advance

race trucks and cars have to have a power shut off i dont know much about them but i believe one brand switch says moroso, you could run one of those and hide the switch somewhere under the truck
There's also LOJACK if you want to go to any extremes. I have it for my truck and my wife's truck since she got her truck stolen last year. Not to mention VIPER alarms with auto engine disable, and a steering wheel lock and brake lock.

i have been doing research on a related subject - vehicle security & theft prevention.
i will be getting a ravelco (strictly anti-theft), and jimmi jammer's to stop thieves from popping locks via plastic door handles.
i was really considering a two-way alarm, but is much more expensive and cannot stop a thief from stealing the vehicle itself - the ravelco will, unless a tow-rig/flatbed is used.
ps. the ravelco can also be used on your machines!

I was going to put a hidden switch under the seat or under the dash, but does anyone know what would be the best thing for the switch to shut down. I was thinking about it cutting power to the fuel pumps relay. Anybody got an better or easier way?
X2 that is what I would get!!!http://www.highdesertravelco.com/
Those Moroso switches don't really do much to prevent theft. They are meant to kill all power for safety reasons, They just open a connection when the key is pulled, but the key end is just a circle or a tip, and you can just stuff anything metal in there to counter them. They are also big and red, hardly "hidden". lol
As for the Ravelco and a vehicle being towed, this does happen, but I see a lot of people assuming that they have a 50/50 chance (some even higher) of their Ravelco equipped vehicle being towed, or even a non-Ravelco equipped vehicle being towed.
I even see some people go as far as to say "I won't bother with any of that crap. They will just tow the vehicle anyways. Don't waste your money"
I'd just like to point out that the use of a Tow truck/Rig to steal vehicles accounts for just under 2% of vehicle thefts nationwide.
So it is definately worth the effort to protect your vehicle. Don't believe anyone when they say your truck/car/whatever will just be towed. I can tell you that every thief I have ever talked to (I actually ask questions, to figure out how some of their methods are done), could only wish they had access to a tow truck. It isn't like every street thief has an extra tow truck sitting around.

You can tell if yo have the Sentry key by looking at the key itself.
If the head of the key is Grey, you have it. If it's black, you do not.
Also, the Sentry key system, just like the GM Passlock, and the Ford PATS systems, can be defeated. It will slow down kids and whatnot, but it won't do much to help you against someone that has done their homework.
