I think (don't quote me on this) that there is a separate TCM that controls the transmission functions but i know it is also run somewhat off the PCM. That is why there are separate flashes on the '08s for the trucks equipped with manual transmissions vs. those that are equipped with automatic transmissions.

If you are thinking about a 68RFE swap into your 12V, i think ALOT of electronic adaptation would be necessary for it to run and shift right.

I honestly couldn't tell you. Im not an automatic guy. I honestly think that, for the money it would cost to secure a 68RFE and the electronics that go with it and adapt them to a 12v, whether a bellhousing adapter is needed or not, would cost a significant amount. Probably more than a bulletproof 47RE would cost you. Again, i can't say any of this with any kind of certainty, just my thoughts and guesses. Hopefully someone a little more in the know regarding automatic transmissions can chime in.

It shouldn't have a problem physically bolting up, but electronically...

It will probably take one of the major aftermarket tranny people to come out with a "box" to get this to work.
