6.7L High Performance
So, mnmlod, did you just take a CAT/DPF section and hollow the whole thing out? Or did you find an extra CAT/DPF and just hollow the one section out? If I can do this cheaply then I will do it that way. I have posted a wanted ad for either one of those items or for the whole combo. Someone help me out....
The shop I went to had a bunch of 5.9 cats laying around. We gutted 2 of them, welded flanges on the ends and bolted them in place. If I ever get emissions testing in my area, I will unbolt the 5.9 cats and bolt my DPF and cat back in.
The DPF delete kit is in and we are going to install the system today. Will also add the EGR blocking plates and remove the butterfly door.
Going to find out how the 6.7 really should run!

That should be a link to a pic of the butterfly

That butterfly door is a PITA. First is getting the assembly off. The gasket was either glued on or stuck to the varnish. Had to go back with a little RTV to makeup for the slightly torn gasket.
Next was the door itself. Applied heat via a blow torch to the screws and still broke off both screws. Ended up drilling both screws out.
The H&S kit went on without a hitch other than some busted knuckles. Truck runs great, sounds good and a drop of 200-300 degrees with the EGTs. Have a CEL (believe it's for the EGR), will have to live with that unless my Dad want to drop the coins for the Edge Attitude.

On a rare non-DPF/EGR delete note, i recently fired off emails to both Buddy @ Bully Dog and to Edge about the timing in their parts. I haven't heard anything back from Buddy yet but heard back from Edge and they said they advance the timing 1/2 degrees for each level if you select "edge timing" instead of "stock timing." I am referring to the Juice w/Attitude, obviously.
So, on Level 5 of my Edge, I am advancing the timing 2.5 degrees. Once I find out what the Power Pup advances it in Tow and Performance, i will be able to make a better stacking strategy. I also asked Buddy about the PMT to compare them. Does anyone know how many degrees you can SAFELY advance the timing from stock on these 6.7L's?

2.5 degrees isn't very much. My guess Edge is keeping the timing down so the system won't go into regen more often. More timing equals more smoke.
You could try the Rokktech timing sensor, which adds two degrees of static timing. I think Dodgezilla added one to his a while back.
If the 6.7 is anything like the CR 5.9's, should have a lot of room to play with since the engines have retarded timing for NOx emissions.

Thanks broncohound took off the harness light went bye bye !! I got another question for you guys. Does your truck smell funny i mean my 5.9 had that normal diesel smell my 6.7 has a kinda weird smell am i just a fool or does anybody agree ?

Well, apparently I have ventured into that which cannot be spoken. I called a bunch of these guys today and didn't get very encouraging results:
PPE Xcelerator-Guy didn't know, engineer was out of town, didn't want to put me in touch with even his voicemail. He said they don't give out that information.
Hypertech Max Energy-Wouldn't give out the information.
BD Ultra-X Tuner-Tech support guy didn't know, put me in touch with the engineers (Christian) voicemail and I left a message. I will update if I hear back.
Superchips Flashpaq/Cortex-Office was closed
Bully Dog Power Pup/PMT/Triple Dog-Tried calling buddy but went straight to voicemail. I called customer support and he wouldn't tell me and wouldn't give a reason why he couldn't, just that they didn't want to tell me. Hopefully Buddy can shed some light on this when he gets back to me.
My guess as to the tight-lipped lockdown I received is that they thought I was a competitor trying to duplicate their product. However, how is the customer supposed to make an educated decision on a product if they won't tell the customer WHAT it is doing to their truck? Everyone I talked to tried to quote me HP/TRQ numbers for each tune. That is all well and good but HOW are they getting these increases!!! I know, i know...timing and fueling. But HOW MUCH TIMING DAD-GUMMIT!
Anyway, i was displeased to say the least. After an hour on the phone I have exactly zilch to show for it. Sorry, guys.
UPDATE: Just got off the phone with Christian from BD. He told me the way they run their algorithms, it puts the timing values into a set of figures that don't equate to degrees. He doesn't have the conversion charts (I guess only the higher-ups have that). He also told me the timing in their tune varies based on RPM, load, etc. throughout the tune so it is not just a standard setting of advancement. Maybe the other companies thought I was too dumb to understand this so they just said "we don't give out that information." It sure was nice to speak with someone who spoke to me like an intelligent individual. I think I will be doing business with BD down the road, can't say I have the same feeling with some of the other companies I've talked to today.

I was told elsewhere to be wary of anything over 3 degrees advancement. I also decided to try and do a little investigating today with the current downloaders/tuners on the market for the 6.7L and their timing settings. I posted my results elsewhere but here is the excerpt:
Who told you the 3 degrees max?
Without the DPF and EGR I bet that number can go a lot higher.

A member of cumminsforum posted that when i asked the same question there. I think tomorrow sometime I am going to call Cummins and see if I can talk to someone there about the maximum safe advancement of timing.
