i love my 6.7 for everthing but the milage. But with a 6 inch lift, 20's and 37's averaging 14.5 isn't to bad, all city is down around 12.5 Even with my power pup on tow (40hp) it wupps up on lly Dmax's with ex intake and 130 hp tunes, havent played with any lbz yet

im decently happy with the mileage im gettins since i came from a 7.3 F250 that was lucky to average high 15's low 16s. Not to mention the truck is so much better overall, the tranny is awesome, and obviously i love the power.

I've got an 07 5.9 and it's my first diesel, I love it but cant compare it to anything else. 2 friends have 08 6.7's and neither one have had any problems.

I was lucky to get the last 07 5.9 on the dealer's lot up here in VT.Always owned Chevy so buying a Dodge was a real stretch for me.I test drove both Ford and Chevy.Ford was o.k. liked the boost guage. The chevy felt like I was driving gramdpa's buick. When I drove the CTD and heard the turbo spooling I WAS SOLD! Even got $10,000 of sticker. The aftermarket is loaded with good stuff for the 5.9.Good luck on your decision.

Have a 2007 6.7. Had a 2004.5, 5.9 and a 2003 5.7 hemi all were 3/4 ton long wheel base Dodges.
Comparing fuel mileage over 10,000 miles at the same mileage and the same time of year, the hemi was 11.4 mpg, the 5.9 was 17.63 mpg and the 6.7 was 14.45 mpg. At 20,000 miles and with a new turbo and updated flashes the 6.7 is now at 13.3 mpg for the last 3,000 miles.

Should have kept the 2004.5 or purchased 2007 5.9.

Lets see quite a few mods with no problems at all. Fuel milage who cares thats not what I bought the truck for if I wanted milage I would have bought a geo metro. Stock for stock 6.7 much better. But throw a chip smarty on 9 or crazy larry on the 5.9 and it will blow the doors off a 6.7. But then again it takes 2 chips on the 6.7 to equal the hp for one chip on the 5.9. I think we need to start a poll on this. It seems there are only a few that dont like the 6.7 that has owned one test driving doesnt count. I also get tired of defending the 6.7. I know 3 people that would say the 5.9 is the crappiest motor ever, all 3 blew motors with under 10000 miles. Do you want them to go around saying all the bad crap about the 5.9 I dont know about the rest of you but you heard of a 6.7 blowing a motor yet I sure havent. You 6.7 bashers get my point.

didnt you mean that a 5.9 takes 2 chips to make the horsepower that a 6.7 makes with 1 chip?

or do you mean that the chips for a 5.9 give the 5.9 an additional 200hp where as the chips for a 6.7 give it only 100hp? so that it would take 2 chips for the 6.7 to get the same addition as the 5.9 with one chip.

It seems to me that if I have a problem with a product I am much more outspoken about it. So with that being said maybe the folks that are having issues with the 6.7s are speaking up more than those that don't have any problems. I have only had my truck 3 months and I drive 4 miles to work and back, idle it for at least 10 mins every morning and haven't had an issue yet It doesn't get the best mileage but its a 7000lb truck. Two guys I work with have 5.9s one gets great mileage the other gets worse than I do. I would be willing to bet that some low mileage 5.9s have some issues as well. If I wanted to make crazy power it would be a 5.9 because of the aftermarket and the reliability. My truck has to be a daily driver that my wife can also drive so the 6.7 has been awesome so far.(knock on wood)

Well, I know a few COMPLETE IDIOTS as well, that's nothing to brag about. You guys are defending the 6.7L so much because so many are furious about the luck they've had and they get on these boards and rant. You defend it because you've taken that plunge as well and it's human nature, this is not a real big deal either. Even the 5.9L would be jeopardized if it was put in the same emission conditions and application as the 6.7L, I think we could all agree on that???? I also think time will tell us all what we're going back and forth about, if and when the 6.7L lives on and is as unchanged for 18+ years. Well, then and only then would I say it is as good as the 5.9L and probably better because of the conditions. We will see, but so far it's not looking too good. And yes, there has been a motor(6.7L) trashed. I believe it was because of poor fuel and was a voided warranty case, but who cares. As I said we'll see how many 6.7s live to 200,000-300,000 miles w/ 0(ZERO) problems, we will see

I just bought my truck a month a go and love it. I have been a member on the forum about a year now and from what I was reading on 6.7 I did not want one. Ok there a big handfull of trucks that had problems but over the handfull how many thousands did they sell with no problems? It did not stop from getting the new and improved. All in all the truck is great

The thing thats weird to me is, few if any 6.7 owners seems to troll the 5.9 forums looking for opportunities to say their truck is better than someone else and how glad they are they bought their 6.7.

I can only think that the 5.9 owners that make a point of attacking the 6.7 forums are either jealous or looking for entertainment.

As to the reliability of the 6.7 I would say there were lots of problems with the early trucks. Succesive SW flashes have largely resolved the majority of those issue. I dont see any higher incidence of complaints now on the 6.7 forum than with any other truck including the 5.9's, except for fuel mileage.

Most 6.7 owners are getting about the same as I am 14-15 in urban driving and 17-18 highway. Some are higher, some are lower. So what. I know plenty of people with 5.9's that get the same or worse mileage and some that get better. Keep in mind this is a 408 cubic engine versus what, about a 360?

As far as the technology, I remember when the muscle car era "died" in the mid 70's due to catalytic convertors, unleaded gas, air pumps. For a few years things were bad. Then the cars started running fine and the OEM's eventually figured out how to make HP and still meet emissions. Every one of them today makes a performance rig that will blow the doors off of the fastest 60's or 70's muscle cars to come off the show room floor, and they get much better mileage and meet all emission standards.

So live is the past if you wish and keep your 5.9, but be happy and go spend your time on your own forum. If you want to learn about the new technology, watch it improve and contribute useful, fact based comments, then stay on the 6.7 forum and enjoy.

very well said, I agree 100%. It would be nice to keep this forum informative, positive and free of senseless comments. I also believe in Santa Claus and the tooth fairy, but we can hope for the best, let's all try to post just good, solid information and questions.

5k miles and not a single problem with mine.
Fuel mileage is 1-2 mpg less than my 06 5.9 but still allot better than my brothers new 08 power stroke.
Id do it all over again, love the new auto and couldnt live without the EB.
