6.7 intermitant problem....

Twice in the last week the truck has spit and sputtered after initial startup. It happened to the wife once and me the other time. The truck seems to lose power and run rough and loud. It only last for a short period of time and then clears up. Is this part of the regen system. I used the search and found something about the stationairy regineration that requires driver interaction. The truck barely has over 2800 miles on it. I plan on taking it back to the dealer on Monday, but need an idea what may be wrong with it. There is nothing displaying in the overhead nor is there a CEL.

If it is not showing the symptoms or throwing any codes then you are probably wasting your time going to the dealership. You will only hear the "We could not duplicate the problem" line that so many of us have heard over the years....
Mine has idled rough a couple of times but always cleared up quickly. BTW, I have had a couple third gens and all of them have done this from time to time with no real reason that I could find...

Our overhead fuel mileage dropped considerably when it happened. I know its not very accurate, but it did show a 2mpg change almost imidiately. We had just filled up this time, but the time before it was about 3/4 of a tank.

Refer to TSB 11-001-08
This bulletin involves the cleaning of the turbocharger, using Cummins Engine Update Kit
10138-UPD, to address excess soot accumulation. The procedure cleans the internal components on the exhaust side of the turbocharger. Special tool jig is used to drill hole in turbo for cleaning. Then a water base cleaner is sprayed into turbo to clean soot. O2 sensors need to be pulled and cleaned or replaced if damaged. Plan on leaving your truck for the day, and that's only if they have the kit and parts to do the job.

I've done a few of these turbo cleans and so far they havn't been back. Trucks that idle more then 50% of the time may get sooted up quicker. Using your exhaust brake helps keeping turbo clean. I don't know if it hurts your fuel mileage.

I always have the EB turned on and I have also started driving around town in manual 4 or 5. I believe this will help keep me from having these issues. It also gives better throttle response...

I threw my 4th p2262 this week, took it in and the dealer said the AX reflash would fix it. Usually, I just put it in Tow/Haul and run the snot out of the EB and it clears the code, but I figured I'd let them look at it.

They didn't drill the hole as far as I know, and I'm still on my original turbo. It's been two days and it's not back yet............guess we'll see.

Well after a day of runarounds . Being told my truck was being looked at and it wasnt even in yet after sitting at the dealership since 7:30. My wife went in at 2:30 and it still had not been looked at. I was told it needed 4 updates before they could run any test on it. The CEL was off when I went in and the code would not come up on the dash. They said they still had to do 2 more updates before they could run the test and this was at 530. How long does it take to load these updates? They said it would either need cleaning or would need a new turbo depends on what the scanner tells them on the test drive. The dealer was saying the updates were up to AQ. Havent heard anything about AX.

AQ is the latest.

Please let me know what they say it is for. I could never get a straight answer.
