No problems with my mega cab yet. that 6.7 scoots along like a bat outta hell compared to the other diesels I've had/driven. only bummer, as everyone agrees is the mpg. but remember...it's a huge truck and not too light weight either. I was AMAZED to lose 4 mpg from 35" all terrains though. gotta find some fuel saving alternatives...

I like the 5.9, the 6.7 is a smog engine ,just put a chrome tail pipe on a 5.9 ,and will out pull a 6.7[laugh]

my 6.7 made 15+ trips to 2 different dealers for various dpf and electrical problems. 3 new computer programs and one new computer. turbo. 2 sensors.and a number of dpf cleanings because it will not regen while pulling a trailer. got 8.8 to 9.5 with the 6.7. getting just under 12 with my new to me 07 5.9. the 6.7 isnt worth the the trouble of taking it back and back again to the dealer. especially when i already had 67000 miles on it and within a year the warranty would be out and i would have to pay for this mess. 5.9 all the way in years to come im sure il have to buy another new ctd. but il completly rebuild my 07 5.9 even if it has 700'000 miles before il buy another 6.7

5.9 or 6.7????? hmmm, 5.9 of course...
the 6.7 is a good motor, don't get me wrong, but it just seems that there will be some potential issues with it down the road. Programming is one issue that DC is taking care of, but not soon enough IMO. the cat or particulate filter has senosor on it, and is something that will cost some big money to replace down the road. It has too much emissions junk on it IMO, and is a very potentient engine IMO if they weren't restricted back like they are and lacked the mileage capability. Anyone ever went to Baja Mexico in a 6.7, they don't make ULSD in mexico, and well if you put the wrong stuff in your rig and it causes problems, you can guess who is paying for it.....not DC. Anyways, the 6.7 sounds and is a good engine, I would rather just stay with the tried and true 5.9 and have less stuff to go wrong.......IMHO[duhhh]

I love my 6.7 except for the mileage, I had an 04 5.9 and it treated me very well towing and empty. I needed more room and went with the MC and man I Love this truck. Towing power is just simply awesome with the new 6speed and EB. Simply sweet but needs better mileage.

While I loved the exhaust brake and the 6-sp auto, I couldn't justify getting a truck that only got me 12-13 mpg. That's why I got rid of my gasser.
In due time the aftermarket may fix the few problems that the 6.7 has. But, in the meantime, I'll be having fun with my 5.9. Ah, 21+ MPG...gotta love it! garrett |
Unfair poll. A lot of the guys that are voting for the 6.7 have never owned a 5.9, so how would they know? A lot of them owned a powerstroke or duramax. So how are they comparing to the 5.9???????
|
Think the 6.7 is great as well. Only thing I would be very worried about is when the warranty runs out, you will have to pay for all the little visits you make to the dealer, and by the sounds of it, a lot of the 6.7 owners are making those little trips. Eventually, your warranty will be gone and the trucks will have issues. According to my dealer, the 6.7 are very expensive to repair if you had to pay for it. You will have to pay for it too. But remember guys, we are all Cummins fans, so no bashing on the 5.9 or 6.7. It's still a Cummins. LOL

NOT too shabby. My 04.5 had U-joints, front wheel hubs and the rear axle gears replaced/repaired by this many miles.
I did not vote but am glad to see the 6.7 is doing well finally. Considering a year ago all the complaints that used to be posted here almost daily. I'd never get rid of the one I have but would like to have a reg cab also. Maybe one of these days I'll pick up a 6.7 reg cab, maybe after the new body style comes out.. |

I think you were refering to me Dodge man because I said 6.7 to 5.9 instead of 5.9 to 6.7???? Maybe not. If so, either way, you have to of owned BOTH to compare. That is what I meant. They guys that are saying the 5.9 is better have never owned a 6.7. Not all of them, just some.

No problems here, love the 68RFE and EB.

There have been a few problems with the 6.7 but as others have said I think most are fixed for the most part. If you read the GM forum a lot of those guys are pulling off the dpf for better milage, I think that will come back to bite them in the future. The duramax is having just as many problems if not more and Ford has never really recovered from the 6.0 tragidy with the new 6.4. We have the best motor and I think the best truck as well it's not as fancy as some of the King Ranch trucks but I've had fewer problems with my last 2 Dodges then my last Chevy and Ford.

6.7L with an Outfitter camper

I must admit I have never owned a diesel before but I have been pleased (other than recent fuel costs of course). My experience has been oil changes only and no problems. Currently I have 17000 miles and have ran the truck part of the time with the camper on.

If Dodge would have offered the 6 speed auto with the pre-egr-particulate filter-fuel sucking engine, it would have been the best truck ever
