Worth the diffrence?

Hey everyone. I have a 97 1500 4x4. Not too impressive but ive made it into a looker. But its shuckin out and My mother has a 99 diesel. And i love that truck Ive found 98s and 99s for 14-18k. But Im also wanting the new 2500 CD or the 3500 without duals. But all of you have bought them know how much they cost. And overall the biggest reason im getting a diesel is for the mileage. Little bit of towing with a 6 place snowmobile trialer. But I was wondering if the new truck was really worth the extra 15k... especially to a 19 year old college student haha. Im lookin for the opinions of those who have had both.... Maybe what the hp and torque diffrences are. Thanks for the time

I could'nt afford a new truck at your age, however if you are able to buy a new '03, I would do it. I traded in a '01 2500 ho/6-speed, and the difference between the two is like night and day. I'm not saying the '01 was junk. It was a great truck, but my '03 is light years better in the ride, brakes, steering, and handling departments. Power is kinda a non-issue because if the "bomb-a-bility" of the '02 and earlier. My '01 had quite a bit more power, but I also had a Edge comp box, and a blue chip cover. Stock vrs stock, my '03 "feels" more powerfull, and is definetly much quieter. Just my tow pennies worth.

CC
