Wonderful 3-4 yr old battery woes...

Well, I noticed my truck started to crank slow over the last 2 weeks. Tonight, dead as a wedge. The batteries are about 4 year old Advance Auto part Gold's. It appears one of them is bad, the passenger side I suspect the way it is acting. Anyone know how to figure out if the Diehard Platinum's are on sale? If I go to Advance, they will test both batteries and more than likely find the passenger battery has a dead cell and will only want to pro-rate that one. I refuse to put just one in, I need two.... The stock batteries lasted 6 years for me and were still good when I yanked them. I hate being stranded.

Ive had really good luck with walmart batteries. Don't laugh. The Ever starts. I get the better model they carry. I think they have a 3 year free replacement and a 72 month pro rate. Plus, walmart is everywhere, so if I have an issue, I just go to closest one and POOF, new batteries.
We ran them in all of our fleet trucks, 1/2 tons to F350 and only hand one or two issues in the 6 years I worked at that company. Just my real world experience, FWIW

Well, I just looked online and my Sears service center doesn't have any in stock and won't for about 8-10 days. Not good.

I agree walmart batteries are a good value. I got a set three years ago. They went bad just before the three year free warranty was up so I got two new batteries for free. If I get three years out of these I'll be a happy camper!

Can't help you on the current batteries but the Diehard Platinums are re braded Odyssey AGM batteries at about a $100 ea discount.
I have 2 Odyssey batteries that resided in my boat since 08-09. Put them in the truck in 2013 and they are still strong. Just bought 2 new DH Platinums for the boat this summer.
Even if they are not on sale, they are a good value IMO.

We'll, I popped the top on both batteries and noticed 3 out of the 6 cells were cooked on the passenger side, nasty looking. All cables were good, no corrosion. I went by Advance and they took care of me. One new passenger battery at no charge. The batteries were only a little less than 3 years old. The drivers side battery tested good and the cells looked like new. Oh well. Must have been a defect.

I will be going this route the next time I have to purchase batteries.

Sears, walmart, Napa, autozone, Interstate, Costco, O,rileys, Optima ETC ETC,

Are all most likely all built by Johnson Controls.

Mine were great at 6 yrs and continue to live in a 12 valve.
Sears had their P2's on sale for $158 so I swapped them out. I paid the installer 6 yr old factory's for the labor.

Sears recently offered a Columbus day sale. That combined with their 10% off auto coupon made them around 160$+tax. The DieHard Platinum Group 65 P2s are relabeled Enersys /Odyssey batteries and manufactured in the USA.

So what happens if only one battery is shot and they will only warranty one of them?
Would it matter which side the new batt is installed, as in, does one batt start and the other power acc??

I wish I could replace both with one as was done to a 2d gen on one of the weekend car shows.
They used a lithium battery.
They are pricy!!!!
