Will a 24V 2nd gen block fit in a 3rd gen CR?

So I'm guessing that I'm going to need another engine. Mine is puking smoke and the blowby is bad. Think I melted a piston. Going to try to do a compression test on it this weekend.

BUT.... in preparing for the worst how different is a 24V 2nd gen block from a SO CR motor? Wondering if I can buy a 2nd gen motor and put a CR head on it.

There is only one used CR motor near to me and the guy wants $6500 for it. There are some decent deals on 24V 2nd gen motors though....
