why so little front suspension travel?

my 4x4 looked like it had ~1.5 inch of travel, figured that was due to clearances/ride height/compromise.

was under the 4x2 last nite, it's only got about the same between the snubber and the frame.

wonder why? are any of bottoming out the front susp?
we have a wicked deep ditch at the Gym, i cross it at an angle leaving, seems like a lot of body flex & maybe it would make it touch the snubbers

FWIW, if you have a 4x2, you REALLY need to Krylon that steering rack - mine was pretty rusty.

the front suspension has about 8" of travel stock, as I recall.

Static I would think you would see less than 1/2 of the travel. The Bumpstop is designed to be part of the travel.

My 4x4 thoughts.

As far as the rust. I think one of the first things you need to do when you get one of these trucks is to do some under body painting. I rolled under mine with a can of rust paint. Covering most any thing that was or could rust.

maybe 6 inch of droop, and 2 of compression,

or maybe the snubber compresses a few inches to increase that.

droop is okay off-road, but compression is what you need when you are loaded on the highway, hammer down, and hit a concrete/asphalt joint that was paved by the lowest bidder.
SC has some bad roads - not to mention the RR crossings on a sand base

i think you are right about the snubber - the pyramid shape makes it progressively stiff as it compresses.

i was just guessing at it, not sure at all.

I will say that on my setup with the 2.5" sway aways which have a built in bump stop, for lack of a better term. I do not see them bottoming out, well at all. So my on and off road driving I experience more droop then compression.
