Who else dis-likes there 6 speed manual?
Well I love my truck at 17,000 miles with no drama or dealer visits. But I am kind of kicking myself in the rear for not getting an auto w/4.10's. These 6 speeds are just so **** slow of the line it makes me sick. The 37's helped out the steep G56 gearing and the edge EZ helped the power, but this thing is a slow *** plug compared to the 05 F-350 6 speed manual w/the same tires and EZ. I really am regreting my trade as strange as this sounds. What do I do to make this boring plug move.

well, I love my 6 spd, but I have NEVER been a fan of auto trannies for street use. It does take a while to shift, and get used to, and you can't shift it like a race car, but I still like it.

I agree with the second gear start but when I leave the line in third mine is fast. I have 26k on mine now and I have gotten really quick at rowing the gears. The Predator helped with speed and with the Puck turned on it really helps the low end power. I am not regretting mine at all, just my .02

I love my 6spd. I know there alittle slow but they were designed to pull out with heavy loads. Mine starts slow but by the time I hit fifth gear I'm starting to cruise by traffic. Maybe 3.73 gears would have been better for you or the auto. The 3.73 seem to pick up speed faster than the 4.10's. What gears did you ford have?

I also am kind of regretting my manual, love it when i am towing and driving down the highway, but absolutely hate it in town. I certainly was not going to buy a 48re based on their previous history though.

Mine shifts fine, but OD 6th is the wrong ratio for the 3.73 rear, or vice versa. They should have installed the 3.55, if there was no practical way to change 6th. Poor vehicle (system) engineering, but the tranny itself is fine.
I bought mine to use as a truck. I'm not looking to win drag races with it, so I'm not worried about how fast it comes off the line.

Thanx! You guys rock! The G56 sure is geared steep, similar to my re-geared ford w/stock tires. I do love the way the truck tows my equipment, but unloaded it sucks. My ford had 4.30's w/37's was quicker and much more fun/easyer to drive, but the low end power sucked. The 37's on my dodge made 2nd gear a bit longer, but it lost the snap in 3rd-6th. 37's allowed me not to have to shift as much once up to speed 4th and 5th gear are used much more now. What kind of tuner should I be looking for to make this truck quicker when I am not towing work equipment (not impressed w/EZ).

I love mine! If I wanted something faster I would have went with the auto. It's nice to set the cruise loaded heavy and be able to climb a 6-7% grade without having to disengage the cruise or downshift!
