It's common, you have to replace the rocker to get that piece. Talk with Jeff at maumau diesel. Great guy.

Noop, you need it or you may damage the stem of the valve.

I ran mine with out that thing for months. The older S60 driptroits had an issue where the spring steel keepers would fall off or wear through, only in a few cases have I seen them let the button come off. I did replace it with a new one. And yes I did have to buy the rocker arm to get it. I did reuse my old rocker arm and button so the wear pattern never changed. Thinking back on it I don't know how they don't fall off, I guess its the oil film holding it in place. Valves don't just shut because the cam wants it to, I have seen high speed footage of valves in operation where they will bounce well after the rocker arm is off of the valve.

I'm trying to figure out what plastic piece you're talking about, I recently pulled my injectors and waiting to get them back..

I didn't see anything resembling a plastic collar when in there.

Any pics?

It holds the little metal button to the end of the intake rocker arm.

Am I insane, but don't you remove the exhaust rocker to pull injectors?

^^^Yes you do, but what does that have to do with the original poster's issue.

For everyone else, be gentle with the rocker arms when you are working on them.

You only NEED to remove the exhaust rocker to replace the injector. I broke mine when I was prying on the injector to pull it out. As it popped loose it knocked into the intake rocker arm breaking the little plastic keeper.
