Where do I start 05 3500 dually
a week ago I drove home from work. I noticed that it was a little difficult to start but it cranked. Next morning I went out and it wouldn’t crank. It will turn over and act like it wants to start but it won’t. I replaced the fuel filter and nothing. I know absolutely nothing about where to start looking for the problem. Can someone give me some things to check. And please remember I do not have any knowledge of Diesel engines. Thanks.

So it turns over with the starter, but required long crank fine to fire, and now won’t start?
I think on the 05 you can rock the key from off to run quickly 3 times, and it will show any trouble codes on the odometer.

Ok so I finally cought a break in the rain and got to mess with my truck. I bumped the starter and I can hear the fuel pump working
i got these 6 fault codes
P0201 Injector circuit malfunction cylinder 1
P0203. Injector circuit malfunction cylinder 3
P0243. Turbocharger wastegate solenoid A Malfunction
P0336. Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance
P0480 Cooling fan 1 control circuit malfunction
P0483. Cooling fan rationality check malfunction
Anyone have any input of where I should go from here??
i am guessing it’s an electrical issue..... new wiring harness? New ECM??

Boy, I hope one of the experts on here will chime in.
With that many errors I would be wondering if there is a short in the positive feed for one of the sensors, which drops voltage to all of them.
There are threads about wiring to the fan clutch rubbing throgh, shorting, I think in the general area of the AC pump. May have to move the wiring around to inspect it very carefully.
Until someone who who really knows what they are talking about chimes in, I think I’d very carefully inspect all the wiring, starting with the fan.

There is a harness that runs by the oil filter, check and see if that is the culprit. I work with a guy whos truck started acting up a couple years ago, turns out the harness that runs by the oil filter was the culprit.
I remember him telling me that it through a bunch of codes( I don't know what they were) and he found wher the wires shorted out there. I hope this helps.
