whats with the small front diff on 1 ton 04s

Angry whats with the small front diff on 1 ton 04s

Hey, Whats with the 1ton, and i presume the 600 will also have the sameri front axel, looks like they went smaller on the ring gear,
ford did this a few years back to save some $
so who wants to sqeeze on the 600 with a little bit of weight?you just might here a big BOOM in the front diff.does any one know what they did on the ring gear? or is this my imagination.is it really smaller?

Its mainly in your head. The Dana 60 was 9.5 and the new ones are 9.25 I believe, I may have them reversed. Point is that it is a very small difference and the ring and pinion is not the weak link in a front axle any way, the axle shafts are. It has a higher weight rating then the Dana 60 also
