what is this code???
I get a code 2375. Then I try again, code 2376. Again, 2378, then 2379. I stopped after that. It seems to go up by one every time I check it. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you're running the "Instrument Cluster Self Test" which is what you get when you are holding down the Trip Odometer button and then turning the ignition switch to "ON" (but not start/run).
The first two numbers, 23 is your trouble code and for a 2004 model that code is: Headlamp switch input circuit open. I'm not sure exactly what sets this code but I assume it means that your headlights weren't getting power about 79 key cycles ago. Did you blow a headlight fuse lately? Do any work on your headlight circuit? The second two numbers indicates how many times you've actuated the ignition switch since that trouble was set. After getting the "23 XX" you should have received a "00 00" which shows the end of the trouble codes. |
That's it. But I haven't had any headlight trouble that I know of. Is the "23" code the same for both the 03's and 04's? A better question is where did you find this info out about the headlamps? I searched the internet & our forums but couldn't figure this one out. I almost hate having these codes. I didn't know anything was wrong with my old truck until I heard a kerr-plunk, smelled something burning, or saw flames wicking out from the dash...hence the fire extinguisher:o
Thanks again, Terry |
I'm not sure if the 03 and 04 codes are the same. I got that info from the 2004 shop manual.
There was another member here who had the same problem about a month ago. You might want to try a search and see if you can contact him to see what he came up with. |
Code is gone. I guess it reset itself???
