What is this??

This is a new truck to me as I just stepped out from under an '06 Tundra DoubleCab to this beast! I got this truck from a dealer auction ($$CHEAP!!) and have been looking it over and preforming maintenance. This weekend I came across this test port or something on the intake (as seen in my attached picture. I've been looking at intake pictures of other members here and haven't seen this on anyone's intake.

Anyone have a clue what it is and what it's used for? The top of it looks like your tire's steam valve. What do you think it was used for? Boost?

Thanks

Looks to me like its just a plug for a tapped hole. The previous owner probably had a boost gauge mounted there like you thought.. Pretty sloppy place to put a boost gauge.. and I hope he took it off to drill there. Seems like a pretty straight shot for shavings into the motor..

Why do you say that? Only reason I could think that would be "sloppy" is because if it's too high, the hood might hit it. Other than that, I don't see anything wrong with it.

I might try to use a digital tire gauge to see if I get a pressure reading on it later tonight. What kind of psi should there be at idle?

looks like a valve stem for air.... I guess if you put a plug in your turbo intake boot you could test your system for leaks... or maybe its the only thing he had to plug the tapped hole....

Sorry, won't be able to see any boost at idle.

Its sloppy because its just as easy to drill the backside of the intake horn where it would be hidden and more asthetically pleasing. Looks like he didnt wanna take the horn off and just drilled it in place.. ie sloppy. It works but could have been done better. Not baggin on your truck either Funfinder, just pointing out something small. Congrats on the truck..

Hey FF5. I didn;'t notice that when i looked under the hood last week. It's a port for a boost gauge. That would back up the though that it had a programmer or at least some gauges in it. It might be something stuck in the hole to fill it since the sender is now gone. You gotta get that thing out here so we can crawl all over it and find stuff.
