warranty Issue

I had to take my 2003 2500 SWB CTD SO into the dealer for a leaking Valve Cover. My truck has only 48,000 miles, so I figured that they would fix the problem because my CTD has a 100,000 mile warranty. When I went to pick up my truck the service manager told me that there was a $100 fee that I must pay. When I questioned him about this and told him of my warranty he say that all warranty work is covered after the $100 deductible. He said that this fee will apply to each warranty visit. Has anyone else heard of this? Thanks.

headleyb,
the dodge truck is covered scott-free up to 3yr. and/or 36,000 miles. The engine however is a different warranty. If I remember correctly, 5yr of the 7yr./100,000 mile is on warrantee. After the 5yr. mark you pay the $100.00 deductable. CHECK IT OUT! I do believe that it is true. After 3yr./36,000 on the truck you pay the deductable. **** and moan about -it. I would!

i have to take mine in for the same leaking valve cover issue... wonder how much it actually cost to do whatever they do??? tighten some bolts down for 100$.... thanks DC

If the actual cost parts and labor of the valve cover gasket is lets say for sake of example is only $76.50 then thats ALL you pay!!! The SERVICE WRITER is suppose to inform YOU(Comsumer) of the DEDUCTABLE at time of write up NOT at the cashiers window. Also if the repair is less then $100 it to be billed out correctly not just at $100.You need to find out warranty cost parts ande labor on the repair or call and ask retail parts and labor and take it from there. It may very well be less then $100 warranty repair. The billing issue is NOT a D.C.problem.Its at DEALER level thats scewing up.

The valve cover is part of the engine and should be covered under that part of the warrenty. Isn't the engine 5/100,000 and 7/100,000 if it is then you would certainly fall under the 5/100,000 warrenty. Isn't every thing covered under the 5/100,000 and the deductable start when the 7/100,000 kicks in, after the 5 year period but under 100,000 miles? Please someone clarifiy.

rementa 05-03-2005 10:14 AM

it's 3/36,000(body), 7/70,000(drive train), 5/100,000(engine)

bluebull 05-03-2005 12:29 PM

I thought the engine was included in the 7/100,000 mile warranty.

My understanding is:
3/36 bumper to bumper, excluding wear parts.
5/100,000 engine.
7/100,000 engine and drive train, engine if under 100,000 miles before 7 years.

Man, I could have sworn that is the way the dealer told me. I guess I'll have to dig out the warrenty part of the owners manual.

The above really doesn't seem correct. Isn't the engine part of the drive train?

bigblock2stroke 05-03-2005 02:35 PM

He's right except its 7/100,000 on the engine.

Its 3/36k body, 7/70k ppwertrain with deductible, 7/100k engine with deductible.

hoser 05-03-2005 03:26 PM

The engine and its components have a deductible after 5 years (2003 and 2004)

If that man told me I had to pay a $100 for that I'd have to say it's "go time buddy", if you have less than 100k on that motor and I'm sure less than 5 yrs old you don't have to pay a dime! Now say you had a leaky transfer case at 35k they would fixit no cost to you, but if you had 36,001 then you pay $100 deductable. Same with motor.
