Warrantees are the biggest ripoff in the auto business.

It's a very profitable part of the deal for one thing, and some insurance companies have gone bankrupt leaving you with nothing and no refund. The dealers get part of the purchase price and they are the ones that sell it, but when the insurer goes under the dealers act like they have no responsibility.

Plus I don't likle the high pressure tactics. They have told me a number of times, at the dealers, that the computers are very expensive and the warrrantee will cover a likely failure. BS. Then the notices start showing up to re-new the contract and they are worded like it's an emergency or it will save me from disaster.

Save your money.

save your money. if you're mechanically inclined you can do lots of repairs yourself, and for the rest, find a good diesel repair shop.

It is your truck and you probably know if you need it. I would also usually not advise buying the extended warranty but on my truck I bought the warranty at 35,500 miles.
At 35000 miles for major repairs, I am on my second differential, my 4th blend door, cruise control repair, some computer module, halve a dozen reflashes etc. Man I can't remember all the times my truck has been in.

Right at 36,500 miles (last week) my transmission started hunting for gears and my pedal adjustment just quit. For my situation a warranty was a good gamble. If I would have gone 35000 trouble free miles I wouldn't have bought it.

I'm right at 32K, coming up on the warranty choice too. I have had NO engine, transmission or drivetrain problems. I have had the blend door problem and also have had a couple ECM flashes, the latest was a complete ECM upgrade, it solved all the minor irritating stuff.

I do not plan to purchase the extended warranty.
