Warning to early 3rd gen owners

Hey folks, on my way back from a long road trip my truck started leaking fuel. Luckily we were only a few miles from home. I looked on these forums and saw that some people had problems with fuel rail or injector connections leaking so I assumed that's what it was. Upon further inspection though I found that the #6 injector line had a crack in it. I took it to the dealer and they told me that the early 3rd gens had a problem with the #6 line vibrating until it fatigued and cracked. The solution (which they incorporated into later 3rd gens) is a bracket which supports the line and dampens the vibrations. My truck is still under warranty so they fixed it for free which was cool. Disaster was narrowly averted as we really would have been screwed if it happened in the middle of nowhere. So I thought I oughta let folks here know about the problem. You can easily tell if you have the bracket or not by looking at the #6 injector line. If you don't have it I'd recommend getting one from your dealer.

Sorry for the lack of info in my post. I was at work when I posted it and didn't have my camera with me. I'll post pics and look for a part number (I know I put that work order here somewhere) this weekend. I also filled out my signature so you'd know what I'm running.

I bought my truck last fall had it about three weeks. I was about an hour away from home when I had the 6 line crack the same way. The engine will still run okay but I lost a 1/2 a tank of fuel to get it home.

Hope you find that part # for that bracket

Hey Bad Ramer Jamer,
Yup, I stole it from Pacino. However, in my defense my name is Tony and I do live in Montana, FWIW.

The brackets started during/midway through the 04.5 model year.
