I dug up a little info off a web site about the manual transmission in a '06 2500 and was wondering if someone could confirm that info for me.

2006 Transmission Model was the: G-56

Gear Ratios:
1st-- 6.29:1
2nd-- 3.48:1
3rd-- 2.10:1
4th-- 1.38:1
5th-- 1.00:1
6th-- 0.79:1

Is that information correct?

Ratio's look right but not G56 till the 07.5. NV5600 in the 06.

 

I've been told that G56s started half way through 2005. Mine was built in May '05 with the G56.

rockcrawler304, mine was manufactured 6-06, but just to ensure I'm looking at the correct tranny, what's the quickest way to tell the difference between the nv5600 and the g56? Thanks!

 

NV5600 reverse up and to the right
g56 reverse left and (hmm. Don't remember been a while... I'll stick with left)

 

G-56 has Reverse left and Down and was put in 2005.5

 

G-56 = Aluminum box

NV5600 = Cast iron box

 

I thought mine was should be a g56... and it does have reverse left and down. Thanks!!
