Re:vibration at highway speeds

I drove my truck about 150 miles yesterday with the "alleged" new TSB p/s line with dampener. It changed the start of the vibration from the original 1900 rpms to about 2100 rpms, but once it gets to that rpm,it hasn't reduced it or better yet eliminated it at all >. But at least that's a start,we'll see.I'd hate to lemon law such a great truck for a seemingly simple vibration....

The TSB is not ready yet. The company doing the testing is American Axle MFG 800-299-2953. The vibration is coming from normal diesel harmonics and the transfer case exciteing the rear driveshaft. The trucks come with a 85 Megahertz dampner with a 34 spline slipe yoke on the driveshaft. The fix for the vibration is belived to be a 385 Megahertz dampner with 34 splines. AAM wanted the 385 dampner on the truck at production, DC went with the small one. The slow down is this, their is no part number on the shelf for a 385 MGH 34 spline dampner. How long, who knows. I think thay need our help. Remember the squeeky wheel gets the grease. Call !!!!!!!!!!! ASAP!!!!!!!!!!

If it's driveline related then why would the vibration feel the same if you rev the truck to the same rpms in park?

My opinion is their is more than one vibration problem with these trucks. I have Isolated the one I have to the transfer case which in turn is vibrating the driveshaft at around 60 mpg and up. It is smooth as silk reved up in the driveway. Good Luck

03 2500 2X4 Long Bed 6spd. Don't have the vib problems that I know of w/ 3000 miles on the odometer. I came from a 98 Chevy 6.5 and drove a 00' F350 for a bit. Nothing out of the ordinary from those and drives a hell of a lot better than my 98 Chevy did. Test drove an awful lot Dodge's before making my final decession. Only noticed a strange vibration on an 03 2500 4X4 with a short box.

My truck is loud at 70, but heck, it's a truck. I would love to drive one with the problem.

hey guys, I think the problem is the fan clutch, it is off center and wobbles around at idle, at speed this would have to have some type of vibration that manifest itself at certain engine speeds. check an see if your fan is wobbling around, I know mine is. the next thing is to get the dealer to acknowledge it. check it out and reply. :-

Re:vibration at highway speeds

I still haven't had a chance to drive my truck enough, but from what I've noticed so far,the TSB P/S hose with dampener weight attached has helped. The dealer didn't have it isolated from touching anything (since the TSB hasn't been officially released with instructions). So when I found out the hose is not supposed to rub or lay on anything,I temporarily zip-tied it away.It was rubbing on a relay and the P/S reservoir. Now the vibration "seems" to have reduced in intensity, and I haven't been able to recreate it while in Park, revving the engine.I hope to MAKE time for further testing after Thanksgiving.
BTW Happy Thanksgiving to all... ;D ;D

You may have a known issue there.
