Vibration @ Highway speeds

I went too california this week first major road trip and found that my truck had a rather PRONOUNCED vibration @ 72 MPH (where it was the loudest), in between 65 and 70 it was really quiet, but after 70 the vibration got louder and didnt start too quiet down till I passed 75

Anybody else encountered this (HO or SO) Owners ???

Re:Vibration @ Highway speeds

I just came back from a road trip to Michigan and I had noticed the same vibration. From threads in the past, I think it has something to do with the exhaust. I am not an expert, but I remeber reading about something like that from some one else. To fix the problem, I just went faster. ;D

Re:Vibration @ Highway speeds

I want to add something to my post, I wouldn't say so much as a vibration, but more of a rumble, which could be easily mistaken for a vibration. After reading some more threads about others who have experienced this, it is just the nature of the beast. I went form a small V8 gaser to this beast, and I am still trying to get used to the growls under the hood. I just can't say enough about these CTDs, they are worth everything I paid for it. Smooth, powerful, economic and they sound good!!!!

No complaining about the truck mind ya
If that s just the nature of the beast then, cool....I can live with that.....

If I didnt know better though it almost feels like a drivline SLIGHTLY out of balance...but then Im no expert and my dealer thinks Im too particular for my own good (well not in so many words)

Re:Vibration @ Highway speeds

I have a vibration at around 2000Rpm or 68 MPH. Get above 70 or down around 65 and it goes away. Turn off the AC and it goes away.

Of course the dealer can't duplicate it, so until they do I'm hallucinating.

I also have a vibe in the gas pedal. It is very slight and will only stop if I put my toe under it and just lift slightly. I looked at the pedal and it is hinged with a large rivet. Seems this is where is must be vibrating from.

Maybe it has been there the whole time and these new trucks are quiet enough that you can now hear it. ???

I have the same noise. It is loudest between 2000 and 2200 rpm. I notice it when I am going through the gears no mater how fast I am going.

Same here. I'd swear it is the exhaust but others say it will go away as it breaks in. Whatever it is it doesn't seem like a major problem so I'm just letting it be for now. I have to say I'm glad I'm not the only one with it.

Re:Vibration @ Highway speeds

I have this, and I can tell you that it is NOT from the exhaust. It is from the driveline because I can feel it in my steering wheel. It starts at 70mph and stays there from 70mph and up. I can feel the vibration lessen as I lower the RPM's to below 2000. It will be going back to the dealer after I get the 500 miles on her, as I know that this is not right.

I have no such rumble or vibration in mine at all, and haven't had since I took delivery. I payed particular attention for it this weekend after reading the other posts here last Friday, and none on my truck. It feels smooth, just like when I first got it. It almost sounds like a slightly dry or misaligned driveshaft bearing.

My 99 does the same hop thing, & shakes the truck @ those highway speeds not in the wheels though, & no vibration at take off.

Re:Vibration @ Highway speeds

I have had my HO 6sp for less than a week and it seemed very smooth at first but coming down the Cascades it started vibrating at 2000 rpm. 200 rpm either side and it smoothed out. I was freaking out last night until I read this post. I hope it isn't anything serious as I noticed my oil pressure is just above 20 at idle and goes above 40 at speed which seems low according to everyone elses. ???
