u-joints?
u-joints?
anyone know what size or part# we have on our trucks for the front axel, front drive shaft and the rear drive shaft? i have to replace all mine and would like to get some info on them. it would be a spicer/dana # thanks
Rear driveshaft 2 Piece precision (takes 3) Precision #351
Front driveshaft Cardan H joint (takes 2) Precision #232
Front driveshaft @ front axle (takes 1) Precision #235
Front Axle U joints LEFT AND RIGHT (takes 2) #464
All the U Joints listed above are PRECISION brand and are GREASABLE!!
Precision can be had at your local NAPA auto parts or online at napaautoparts.com or rockauto.com (ROCK AUTO IS WAY CHEAPER!)
I think these are right. When i did all my u-joints on my 04 i opted for the nongreasable ones(personal preference). You can decide which ones that fit your needs.

Wait a minute there the only ones that apply to your truck are the axle knuckle joints #464 which work on all 4x4 3rd gens.
The rest of those joints in that post are for a manual trans truck (I know that because I wrote that list).
Wade,
Check www.rockauto.com they should have a full list of joints that fit your truck. Just take your time in sifting through all the different joints.
On second thought....
As far as the front driveshaft goes go to mopar4less.com and just order a whole new front shaft assembly for your truck. It will actually be cheaper than rebuilding the existing unit. I just bought my new front shaft from them for $196 that included both yokes, greasable cardan, 3 u joints, and the 2 piece shaft all assembled and ready to bolt in. Can't beat that deal with a stick.
The rear driveshaft assemlby new will run you about $400 or less if you have a short wheel base (by about 100) direct from dodge ready to bolt in.
It will probably be cheaper just to buy new u joints for the rear. As I remember I think the auto's took a #330A Precision (rock auto)u joint for the rear shaft they take two for swb or 3 for a lwb.

Thanks for the correction... I was at Rockauto yesterday morning and couldn't make out what part was for which....
It seems odd to me that Dodge would use different U-joints depending on a auto vs manual.
thanks guys
i spent $162 for the (2) fronts (2 rear) and one front shaft 2nd day aired. all greasable! now i need to find the t-case side front shaft, rock auto did not have a listing for them?
