Turbo Boost and EGT Questions
Hi - question for you guys - I just bought my truck (4.5 CTD QC SWB 6Spd 4X4) and want to get gauges. I think there's a really cool looking center gauge console that holds two or three gauges. Since I don't have an auto tranny, I'm thinking about going with a dual gauge pod for EGT and Boost. My question is this - how much boost do these CTD's develop? The autometer gauges are either in 35 or 60 lb boost... I didn't think these engines developed more than 25 or so lbs., correct? Or do you think I should get a 60 for when the warranty runs out and I get new tuners/exhaust, etc?
Also - being the paranoid person that I am about giving the manufacturer any reason to void warranty work, I'm concerned about tapping the exhaust manifold for the EGT probe. I think I'm going to try to take a 'safe' route and have the dealer remove the manifold, give it to me for a day to tap the probe, and then I can give it back to them to clean and re-install. Do any of you guys have any experience with having a dealer do something like this, or do you have any other ideas?
Thanks....

A 600 will do 35 psi stock. Get the 60 psi guage...for now and later.
Drill and tap it in place...no need to be paranoid. There are many post describing the methods. Easy!

You might want to look at the BD X-monitor. I have it an love it. Goes to 60 psi and like 1450 degrees, and saves maximum temps and boost. Also has an alarm built it and mounts to the pillar.
