Truck slips at take off. Manual transmission
Truck slips at take off. Manual transmission
Stock clutch and DM flywheel. 65k
g56- 20k since last oil change.
3/4 ton 4x4. 37' tires
I replaced my rear lower rear driveshaft u joint last week. Later on that week, i noticed as I take off from a stop my truck almost slips and then catches up. It is extremely difficult to describe. But it feels like an auto tranny slipping just ever so slightly, and then bangs into gear. Of course i get not mechanical sounds or actual slamming of parts.
Take off is preformed in 1st, or second, same results. It seems to be about 3/4 clutch engagement. (seems to be worse when warm, but hard to tell)
Now, when I was on a very steep incline paved road, I slowly let my truck crawl up the hill. As soon as I gave it some skinny pedal, it did the slight slip.
I can tell it is doing something different. What I can’t figure out is what the problem is. The law of reason tells me it is that u-joint. or is it? I have pulled the driveshaft; check both the U-joints. Seems fine, both move freely. Could a u joint really cause this problem, or is it a coincidence. I have my own suspicions but I would like to see what some other people think.
I have checked the rear end for particles, nothing more than a fine coat of metal. (looks like antiseize) not sure how much is normal, but there was no actually pieces, more like wear than damage. (30k miles) on diff oil change. Nothing seems wierd inside the transmission as far as shifting. clutch slips with smarty turned up. running on 5 and notice no slipping.
Thanks in advance. I welcome any and all comments or suggestions.

U joints I wouldn't think would slip, nor would the ring and pinion.
I'd also bet your DMF and clutch is not long for this world.
I see in your signature you are awaiting a southbend double disk, and I suspect when you get that in your slipping will be gone.
