Transmisson Shudder or Tires?
When driving my truck, it always starts shaking and shuddering from 35-40MPH, dose not matter what gear I'm in at the time. To me it seems to be getting worse, but that might be due to the fact I'm looking for it to happen.
I don't know if i'm just scaring myself or not. I've been thinking its just due to my tires (37") but don't know. Could it be my transmission acting up? At no other speed dose it act this way. Has anyone else had this problem with their 6-speeds? :flag: |
Balance your tires and see if that fixes the problem

Check U-joints if balance tires didn't help. Binding u-joint will give you a shudder

if checking the u joints does not provide any answers.
do you have a buddy that has a dodge that runs good, no vibration. I know its a bit of work, but change out the tires wheels and see if you still have the vibration with his tires/wheels. i run 275-16 michelins on my truck and it rides/drives solid as a rock. its hard to believe, but one bad tire can be out of round and cause that vibration at only one speed range. also a bend wheel can cause the problem. sometimes, no cure but changing out the tires. some tire shops that have the top of line balance machines can find out of round tires/wheels let us know what you find wrong. |
We use a road force tire balance machine works really well, even with the big offroad tires
