I have a 2003 2500 and about every 3rd day it starts shifting at 2400rpm instead of around 1600. I'll park it and the next day it's fine. I took it to the local diesel mechanic. It didn't do it for him while he had it so he couldn't help me. Any ideas? The truck is basically stock with 112K on it. Just had the transmission flushed 10K ago.

On a good day, what does it shift at with the tow/haul on?

 

My 03 has a similier shifting issue. It is more then likely your govorner pressure solinoid and transducer going out. You can search this forum for that and youl get alot of helpful info. Also i have found a trick to mine when it starts to do that, if youl come to a stop a put the truck in park for 5 sec or so, it then shifts normal. try that and let me know how that works out for u, as i am curious if its only my truck that works on?

 

It shifts the same with the tow mode. 1700rpm. Thanks.
