Tranny question

152000 miles trouble free and the tranny finally started to act strange. It seems to not want to shift until 25 mph and then goes into 3rd and won't go to 4th. was working great up till Sat after dropping my trailer. No 2nd and no 4th, still pulls good but no TC lock up. Anybody have any ideas. I have search but nothing really to compare to. Thanks. Niels

sounds electrical. Start with a can of contact cleaner and hit all three connectors on the passenger side firewall area. Disconnect your batteries first and then give those three conns a good cleaning and plug in several times over to make good contact. If it fixes most of your problem go on to the trans plugs and do the same.
I speak from experience. Look up some of my past posts on the subject.
good luck.

He doesn't have any connectors on the passenger side firewall that control the trans. The TCM is integrated into the ECU.

First thing is to check for codes. Sounds like the trans is in limp mode and you should have some codes to go by.

really? maybe he should go look. There is a PCM and the ECM from the engine block runs into it with a series of cables. The Throttle control APPS also runs into it. Maybe the 04 I saw had 03 wiring in it then.

The 03's still had the JTECH\NGC controller with the PCM and TCM modules in it. The MY 04 deleted that controller because of the issues with it and moved all the functions into the ECU. Every 04 I have looked at has been without the the seperate PCM and the FSM lists it that way also.

It would not be unusual to have a very early 04 that was really a left over 03 that still had that setup. At the MY switch over anything is possible.
