I've always prefered the T/H mode but since I've had the TSB that fixes the 1-2 hunting I notice that T/H mode will hold 2nd longer before shifting up even under light loads - not as aggressive shifting as it used to be.

i use my truck in TH all the time. Its part of my startup routine. Thought it raised the line pressure in the tranny. May be wrong... Maybe only my 02 did that. But i seem to get better mileage all around in TH mode. And it seems to shift a little firmer.

my question is that when going down hill and you put it in t/h it will shift into 3rd but will then shift back up when speed increases. I read some where that if you want to stay in 3rd that if you manually shift the column to 2nd it will keep you locked in 3rd till either the speed drops enough to go to 2nd or you manually shift back to o/d. o

continued from above....
my question is does this hurt the tranny or electronics? I drive in the mountains of Utah and Wyoming all the time and have been trying to decide if I should have the t/h flashed to lock out o/d or not. any suggestions from you guys to help me make this decision would be appreciated.

Googl BD Power and look at their OD lockout box for a solution. It works great and really makes the the 05 trans work like an 06.

Been almost 4 1/2 years since last post ... meantime anyone find a way to default to tow/haul mode?
I use T/H 100% of the time since I carry a 3,500+ lb TC year-round. T/H works great for me but sure wish it was on by default - instead of off by default. Yes, PITA to always have to switch it!

this is a good thread! So a question that pertains to tow/haul, I had a guy tell me that if I had a 4disc billet torque converter replace my triple disc in my built trans, I could tow all of the weight my truck will handle without using t/h mode, as long as I wasn't maxing out the horse power the trans is rated for. This seems like it would rip out o/d to me. Any thoughts?

T/H mode mainly changes 2 things; the shift points and will lock up the torque converter in 2nd gear. Lockup in 2nd effectively increases the time the converter is locked up which is where the disks are used. This guy you speak of is telling you to get a 4 disk converter which is increasing the surface area of the lockup clutches which adds (supposedly) holding force when the converter is locked up but then tells you that you don't need the tow haul mode which uses the lockup and 4disk he's selling???

I have a 06 and I like the shift points when in T/H but I wish when I select the OD off mode, it would keep the T/H shift points and characteristics instead of the normal shift points. When towing through the mountains and rolling hills I don't need OD, but benefit from the T/H mode characteristics. I find myself in T/H; which may have lead me to now finding a new tranny...
