Does it sound like a type writer. My 01 dodge cummins doesent do it but my 02 duramax has the famous duramax tic witch sounds like a typewriter tapping out of rythem with the engine. Just a thought.

NEW CP3 fixed knock!

Well, I'm happy to say that the "knock" was indeed the CP3 with the drive gear out of sync with the stroke of the engine, and now it sounds like I have a new engine!

The dealer (West Valley Dodge, SLC, UT.) had been seeing these lately and today the Service Mgr decided to just throw a new CP3 in instead of taking the time to "adjust"

52K and a new CP3, makes a guy feel pretty good

OK i'm willing to try and adjust the timing on my CP3 but I need some help. I need instructions, perferably with pictures of atleast the locations of items.
I will get my box of crayons out and wait for a response.

It's normal on the 3rd gens. My understanding is it's and injector pulse from the #1 injector cause there is no bracket to hold the injector line like the rest of the lines have. I run 2 stroke and it pretty much eliminates the tick. When I run stanadyne or any other fuel additive the tick comes back until I put a quart of 2-stroke back in it.

...NO PICS, but here's a link to instructions.
