personall i run amsoil in everything i own. trucks, wifes car, chainsaws, wood splitter, snowmobiles, four wheelers, motor cycle, my grease is amsoil. pretty much anything that requires oil, gets amsoil.

this might have something to do with my neighbor being a big time dealer for amsoil

but in my truck, he says to run it no more than 1 year, or 20k miles. which works out perfect for me. when i change the oil, i keep it for 10k miles, change the filter and add oil, then change oil and filter at 20k. cost me $164 for 5 gallons of oil, a spare gallon jug to fill the filters, and 2 filters.

i compare it to $65 per oil change with shell rotella, in 5k intervals. that saves me $96, and i only change it once a year, instead of 4 times.

he has showed me test sheets, from oil in a OTR tractor, with 70k miles on the oil (filter changed ever 10K) and it still had something like 19% life left in the oil. as i said before, i started with amsoil because of the convenience of "take what you need, its in the garage", then realized it was cheaper, plus less labor, and no break downs!

good product in my eyes.
just my .02

ive been running amsoil since 2006 (30k miles) and no problems at all. no oil leaks either. I send in a analysis every 6 months and change the oil/filter once a year. I will say putting a bypass is a must. every analysis has come back just fine for continued use, but i change the oil anyway for peace of mind. Whoever pays over $100 for an oil change is getting ripped off, i paid the $20/3 year preferred membership from amsoil and it only costs me $70 for an oil change. I do use the fleetguard filter from genos, so that is not included in the $70.

I went 25k with RP 15-40 in my 97 a few times, no problem at all. The UOAs said to run longer but I figured I already got more than my monies worth out of the syn/eci routine, anyway. I never tried Ams in the engine cuz I was far less than impressed with their gear lubes in the boxes, compared to RP gear lubes. I'm only semi-sold on the need for syn in the engine so I just use semi-syn in it. The Shafer 7000 UOAs are coming back every bit as good as the syn UOAs and it's cheaper. Craig

For the last 3 years I have run the Amsoil 15w-40 and an Amsoil filter on my 01' Excursion w/ the 7.3. The first two years I did 12k miles, and last year was 16k, and each year it has come back fine. This year so far is on track to be more than 16k, so we'll see how it goes. Also, this year was the first year I used the Fleetguard Venturi combo bypass/full flow filter instead of the Amsoil EaO.
Does this bypass system cost very much to install???

The Fleetguard Venturi takes as much time to install as an oil filter, as the bypass is located within the full-flow filter.

I have been doing the 1yr/25k intervals for 100,000 mile now. This oil had 27,600 miles on it using Amsoil AME 15W-40 and one Amsoil EaO80 filter. I do not use a bypass filter. I got my oil analysis results back and the oil was good for continued use. This pic was taken just before I drained the oil and took the sample. Second pic is the oil filter that was removed during this oil change.

All wear metals were well within limits as were contaminants.

The single bypass kit is $140 whsl. You would have to install it yourself. If you can/want to round up all the fittings and hose yourself, you can get the adapter with orifice for about $40.

I use Oil Analyzers Inc. for the analysis.

The filter cutter I got from Amazon. $60 shipped. It's the longacre brand.

My truck is an 04. it is known for clean oil. Only thing my truck has is the Smarty Jr that I run on the 70hp tune all the time. Towing I put it back to the 40hp tune.

Ok, I'll go you one better.

Show me what a TBN of 9.15 does for you that a TBN of 5.0 will not.

I'll wait.

It's simple if you are talking new oil. Longevity.

Yes! PCNs are a huge influence on oil temp.

Oil temp is basically a function of torque demand. The same power at higher rpm is a lower torque demand-- lower piston temps and lower oil temps.

The worst condition for piston and oil temps is a high load, low RPM lug down-the same type of conditions where you might see EGT go ballistic.

What if it means ineffectiveness? What if you have high TBN because the oil isn't neutralizing acids?
