Testing the fan clutch...

Hello - I've read that the way to test the fan clutch is to check to see if the fan can 'freewheel' (with the engine off of course). My truck's fan does freewheel, but if I try to spin it by hand, it'll only spin four or five fan blades and then stop. Is that normal, or should it freewheel something like a bicycle wheel.... (?) Just wondering.

Yes, that is normal and how it is supposed to be. Spin it by hand and only move 3-5 blades and stop. If you spin it and it spins like a bicycle, that is bad.

To test the clutch, turn the A/C on. At speeds below 25mph you should hear the fan roar. If not check the wires to see if they are cut.
