surging at idle
surging at idle
I HAD #3 INJECTOR REPALCED BUT I STILL HAVE SURGING AT IDLE DEALER SAYS IT MUST BE MY DRIVING BUT I DONT PULL MUCH AT ALL . IT IS A 2003 WITH 23000 MI ON IT. I KNOW IT IS NOT FUEL I GOT IT AT DIFFERENT PLACES AND STILL SAME PROBLEM.
Sorry if you have to repeat something you already said, but does the surging occur at cold temp.
I am asking because I have 6,000 on mine and have noticed a surging of about 100+- rpms when its cold. This has happened when the outside temp was 25°-35°F. The surging seems to go away after the engine reaches normal temp.
Is this he same as yours?!?

Mine also does it when it's cold outside. Even after it has warmed up. It must be something about the outside air temp. I'm not worried about it as it seems to be part of the normal operation on the new common rail fuel system.
Normal..
I'd wait till it breaks then worry about it.

My '03 occasionally surges at high idle when cold. It is not the grid heaters as the surge is too "fast." This occurs when the outside temp is in the 25-35 degree range and the truck is at 1000 rpm. If it warms up and drops off of high idle and then goes back to high idle it does't surge.
I agree to 2 things posted. The grid heaters will cause a slight surge each time they cycle.
However, the surge that my truck has when cold on high idle is not the heaters...as mentioned before, the surge cyle is too fast. My truck does it every now and then...it used to do it on regular idle speed then quit. It only does it on high idle now. I must mention that when I bought the truck, no surge. Then I got the surge, no it is gone again....
