Stock boost and pyro numbers

I have a 2006 5.9 auto, Is 35 pounds boost normal for a stocker and 1300 pyro at full throttle? The boost seems a little high for a stock vehicle and im just not sure about the pyro temp

any help would be appreciated

34 is normal for it.. Mine will hit the same # as long as I can keep the load on it...
As for the EGT, I would think that it is ok, it seems to be a fairly common # thrown around on here.
IMHO, EGT measurements are used better as a guide that trying to compare exact #'s between trucks.
There are too many variations in exactly where the probe is installed, what brand of probe, age of probe, residual resistance in the leads between the gauge and probe..etc... and the list goes on..
Personally, I installed my pyro POST turbo. After driving it for awhile and observing how it responded in various conditions, I find it to be very credible on how hard the engine is working.
I've never seen it hit over about 1K, that was under full boost, pulling 20K plus up a long steep hill...

Sounds about right. Empty on flat ground I can hit 1200F and 32psi if I'm in 4th or higher and hold the pedal to the floor for a few seconds. Your boost gauge may be slightly off as I believe the max boost from factory is set at 32psi.

Bone stock should be 32psi max, and will settle to 28-30 empty and 28-32 when towing. EGT's will hit 1450* super easy when towing or long WOT runs.

Your boost is a little higher and your EGT's are a little lower, I wonder if you have a boost fooler.

mine tops at 32 also then falls when the waste gate opens to 28-30 if under load. not hard to see 1300 on the pyro.

My truck will hit 34 psi pretty consistently.. It will hold there for about 2-3 seconds and settle back to 32 psi. (which I assume is my wastegate catching me)
I wonder if its a little bit of altitude change that is causing the minor differences.

AH64ID 11-12-2010 08:50 AM

The ECM changes the point where the command valve opens to compensate for altitude. Plugged or free flowing intakes will have an effect as well.. But most of the minor differences are probably gauge inaccuracies.
