still have white smoke after doing injectors?

its been tree days and i still have white smoke but only on start up and only on the first couple of accelerations .does this every time the truck set for more than an hour. my fear is maybe valve guides. the truck do use a littel oil maybe a 1/4 of a quart every 5000 miles. also all the injector that i pulled had a heavy coat of black gunk on the tip this may be common i don't know i have never done injectors before thanks for any input,

Oil makes blue smoke. White smoke from a cold truck could be steam that is condensing, however if the smoke smells of fuel then you still have an injector problem. Did you install new or reman injector(s)?

The gunk indicates that you need to hook to a heavy trailer and run the truck under a load to burn the gunk out of the engine. These engines need to be worked hard. Get the EGT's up to around 1000 and keep it there for several minutes.

Do you have excessive blowby? Take the oil fill cap off with the engine edling and put the cap back on the hole upside down. If it blows off then the blowby is excessive. It is possible that the rocker cover filter is plugged.

I tried what you said its not blowby the cap stayed on could only see a little smoke drifting out the hole while it was idling . i was just out driving it i noticed its putting out a gray haze behind me seems to get better and then worse for no apparent reason.

Take a non-contact thermometer and check the temp of the exhaust manifold at each port and see if there is much differance in the temps.

A major temp diffeance will tell you that you have an injector(s) that is not performing correctly.

The white smoke is most likely that you have an injector that is allowing too much fuel into the cylinder. The danger of this is that it will wash the oil from the cylinder and damage will result.

I checked the temp and there all with in a few degrees of each other. the last few times driving the truck the smoke has been changing to sometimes being black to dark gray then it will change back to white and only when i get on it? my bother thinks maybe the cattilectic converter may have really gotten loaded up and is still burning gunk out.

All the diesels I have ever had smoke. Some smoke more then others. These engines take a long time to warm up to operating temperature. They need to be ran and worked from time to time. Putting around town all the time will increase your smoke some in my opinion. Take it on a highway trip and it will clean itself out.
