steering box leaking!
steering box leaking!
noticed the steering box leaking today around the main shaft on the bottom. I just took off driving , figured i would look at it later ,stopped shortly after that and it had stopped! something else strange about this truck. Still love it though.Any one else had this problem ?
I had the exact same problem.. had it in the shop installing my gauges, backed out, found a puddle on the ground, looked... dripping off steering box, figured i would look into it harder later, now the box is just a little wet.... is there replacable seals or orings or anything in them?
not related,...mine was leaking from where the input shaft enter's the box. found that the fill cap for the resevior was not allowing the pressure to bleed off. did the mod i found on this site and no more leaks.
you still may want to check your. good luck

If its the sector shaft seal it might be damaged, but its worth taking the fill cap of your fluid reservoir to see if its pressurized like stroker101 said. mine would pop off and go flying, so i took the cap apart and took out the little rubber stopper valve so it could vent, and no more leak. but mine was leaking around the plate ontop of the box. you should have some steer back and forth while watching your gear box and see if there is play in the sector shaft. PSC has a seal kit, but if would be better to get a new box if there is any play. Mine finally crapped out and i just got a new one from red head steering gears mentioned above, great service and very nice boxes...
