special fluids for truck?

My son is a mechanic for chrysler and takes care of all my vehicles. We change the engine oil on all our vehicles at 3000 miles. My question is is it neccesary to put in oil like amsoil when we change the oil so often. The trans and diff get changed often also. My son says do what you want but I'm wasting the money. We ddon't haul anything or tow anything to often since we sold our race car. So now it's just a pretty truck. My friend calls it a sissy truck, cause it never sees any work. As a matter of fact it hasn't come out of the garage for two weeks as I take short trips and I learned from you guys that's the worse thing for the truck.

There is no need really. You can run the dino much longer than you are now. I run mine for 9k before I change it. Just run a good filter like a Fleetguard Stratapore and you will be fine.

If you want to extend out your intervals more, than you can run Amsoil. I am going to make the change here soon to a full synth so I can take my oil chages out to around 18k or so. The good thing with the full synth is that if you do tow or live in exteme hot or cold climates, the oil does not brake down as fast.

Anytime you drive your truck do your best to get it all the way up to ful operating temps before shuting it down. I am guilty of not always doing this but I try when ever possible.

If you going to change your fuild every 3000 miles I would just run dino. Whatever wal mart has on sale for diesel dino is probably your best bet. Amsoil would be a complete waste at that OCI.

If you are going to change it every 3000 miles, I would definitely used a cheap dino. It would be very expensive to change 3 gallons of synthetic every 3000 miles. I use dino and change it every 7500 as the manual says.
