snow plow advice
 

well, i livedin wisconsin for 36 years. i currently plow my driveway with my atv, and i hire out my buisness parking lot plowing. i'm really considering getting a decent plow for next year. mainly used for my buisness, and maybe pick up an account or 2, nothing major! big question is i've heard ball joint issues. anything else that experienced guys can say? i don't want a huge plow, maybe 7-1/2'. any comments, advice welcome. thanks. 05' quad cab cummins, auto tranny.

This is my first winter with my Ram, but I have a Meyers 7' plow mounted.
I had this same plow on my old half ton for many years.
So while I cannot comment on the longivity of the front end, I can tell the 3/4 ton Ram handles the weight of the plow better. I put 4 new snow rated tires on it too! It's unstoppable, moves a ton of snow, lives up to the nickname...Sherman.

You might want to check out Snoway snowplow, it is made in Hartford, WI, and a pretty good bang for its buck. For the type of plowing you describe, it might be the answer.

I have had a 9' Fisher on my 95 3500 for 6 years now. I haven't had any problems with it. As far as the plow goes, I prefer the trip edge plows over the ones that just flop over and ride up over the snow that you're trying to move. Other than that, it's been a reliable plow and I now own 4 of them.

The plow has been on the truck since new with no issues to date. I don't plow commercially but do have a large drive way

I've been running a Fisher 7.5 footer on my 04 for a few year snow.
No front end issues at all.
Use it for my 400' driveway and my camp driveway.
Push's snow WAY better than my old F250 ever did.
